I’m Renee Tougas—a midlife, empty-nest adventurer, writer, and homemaker living in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia.

After living in Maine, the Gaspé Peninsula, and Montreal, I’m now rooted in the Maritimes, living across the driveway from my parents (you’ll see them in my videos).

I’ve been blogging for 20 years, and since moving here in summer 2024, I’ve started doing more video. I’ve always enjoyed documenting life—journaling, blogging, photography—and now I’m doing it in this format.

I homeschooled our 3 kids for 16 years. With that chapter behind me and the nest now empty, I have more creative freedom at home. (ie: I don’t have to worry about people’s privacy in video making.)

These videos tell the story of midlife homemaking, gardening, adventures and travel, homesteading, and intergenerational living. From time to time I also publish my blog essay writing here in video format.

This is everyday life in midlife. Thanks for watching (& subscribing!).

Three years ago, we placed a deposit on a custom-built Armadillo fiberglass trailer. We imagined all the adventures we’d have and the places we’d go.

What followed was years of waiting, delays, and hard realizations. What would happen to our dream?

In this video, I share our full trailer story, alongside glimpses of our cross-Canada road trip.
