One of my new pet rats just died. Again. It was Biccie bum 😭😭😭 (aka biscuit)


So basically I was just cuddling her and then I decided to put her outside for like five secs so she could feel the snow. No harm done…
..Right?
Anyway about ten mins later I gave her to my mom to cuddle, and she noticed that biscuit was being very floppy and unresponsive, and I had noticed that but I didn’t really think much because they do that sometimes. Anyway my mom held her close and she started getting worried, as before our previous rats had died that’s what had happened to them.

Anyway, as time went on she got floppier and floppier, and we were terrified. I then remembered I put her outside, in the snow. So I told my mom and she was mad but she didn’t care that much since she was devastated. Her heart slowed and her breathing got quieter as she fell unconscious. We tried to warm her up as much as we could, because we thought she might have had hypothermia from being outside in the snow. I held her close underneath my shirt, and out a warm blanket over me to warm her up by body heat.

She was still alive, but she was getting worse and worse by the second. :( the warming up worked a bit, but it wasn’t enough. We brought her into the bathroom and turned the shower on to the highest heat possible, we closed the door and trapped steam inside the room, we obviously didn’t put her in the water, but we let the steam warm her up.

She couldn’t breathe very well so my mom shouted me to go and get the emergency dark chocolate, as dark chocolate actually helps rats when they can’t breathe! :D I couldn’t find it but my mom helped me eventually find it.

We tried to give biscuit the little piece of chocolate, 🍫 but she was barely conscious and wouldn’t eat it, we were screaming and crying and I called the vets, I could breathe or talk since I was crying so much but i explained the situation, they said we could go there, but it was about half an hour away, there was lots of drama with calling the vets and stuff, we called about three different vets multiple times but it was very complicated, anyway, while this was happening, we were driving to collect my grandma on the way to the vets, but she was late and I had biscuit wrapped up in several blankets in my arms while in the carrier crate thingy, while trying to do CPR… I even did mouth to mouth! and I tried calling my grandma over and over again but she wouldn’t pick up, eventually she did pick up but apparently she couldn’t hear me!

We eventually picked her up and sped AS FAST AS WE LEGALY COULD to the vets. I kept checking in on her, and I heard sudden gasps and squeaks as she tried to breathe, she was absolutely fighting for her life. When we arrived, I was screaming and crying as my heart throbbed with sadness, but the vets was closed. A few mins later the lights turned on and our faces lit up in hope.

We sprinted in, explaining what had happened to the vets, they held her and brought her in to a room, and I was crying, I was 99.9% sure she was already dead, but I had that tiny bit of hope 😓😢🥲

The vets came out and said she was dead, I was devastated. Me and my mom and my sister were bawling our eyes out on the way home, as I held her dead corpse in my arms. I tried CPR, even though I knew it was too late. the vets even gave us a little blanket for her to go in. I was so sad and when we got home we got the other rats and placed them around biccie bum, and let them know that their tiny, little baby sister was gone/dead. They were all licking her and sniffing her, they were all so sad. But anyway, we cut off her whiskers and fur and put it in a ziplock bag to keep a part of her. (We do that with all the rats) and we put her in the freezer, since the ground was too hard from the cold snow to bury her.
