This is what bank holidays are about isnt it, but we are onsite pushing the job forward, meeting dealines & delivering on what we said we would.

I’m always asked, why do you work on a bank holiday?

Simple answer, I’M NOT A BANK!

I think it’s the biggest load of sh!t that the country needs to stop work because of a bank holiday.

Although I’d love nothing more than to be in my favourite place with my family, thre is no significance to this day and there for. It’s just another day and it’s business as usual.

Adding to it, these “holidays”, every man & his dog are out in force. If I’m having time off from work, I’m doing it to escape that, not be around it more 🤣

I really enjoyed this build, it was my first timber frame in my 20 years on the tools.

My client was an absolute diamond, easy to deal with, on point with payments & most importantly an inspiration. He’s a brickwork contractor that’s done/ doing what I’m doing & one of the most genuine lads who wants to help you move forward in business.

Thats the cherry on top for me, genuine connections in our game are hard to find, even harder to find is someone willing to help you along the way.

Although my client was James & not the home owner, I still class them & treat them as my own client. And what lovely people they are. It’s been an absolute pleasure to build their dream home.

The second cherry on the top was the feedback:

“it’s everything we imagined & more”

It get’s no better than this ladies & gentlemen.

Despite a few challenges during the build, I’d say this is probably a perfect job for any tradesman.

Thats a wrap on Plot 2 sub structure & plot 1 is fully loaded ready to go.

Nathan is our improver, he came to me & pretty much had to start again. He done his time as a bricklayer but like many youngens, he was taken advantage of by the previous employer.

We started again with Nath, he’s stuck the hod with me for over 2 years & been in & out of trowel time.

For many reasons, It’s been slow for me to enable him more trowel time. Now is his time!

He’s a grafter & consistently proven to me, he’s worth my time teaching. Take a look at plot 1, fully loaded to perfection!

For Nath, there’s nothing else to do here until super structures. So now, it’s on the trowel most of the day for him now 🙂

I’ve only ever had 2 blokes work for me who really stand out, he’s one of them. It’s hard to let go of your best hod, I’m sure any bricky will agree.

I’m also sure any bricky will agree, it’s also his time to shine & I owe him that 🙂

My goal, the end of this site Nath will be laying unsupervised. Lets go 👊

Plot 1 is still on bad ground but we’ll smash through it & the others should be a breeze, the ground through plots 3-9 is lovely.

It’s more than expected & quoted, lucky for me Terry Farnham sorted everything out in our pre start meeting.
Our client is one of them “one of a kind” absolute gold & he let us know the footing was deeper & agreed with Terry to do the footing on rate & remeasure. Perfect!

From a field to 9 bungalows coming soon in Northumberland.

Plot 2 is already sold, so it goes with out saying, our main priority is getting that up.

It’s an old photo, plot 2 sub structure in now complete and handed over to groundworkers to do their thing.

Stay tuned for the super structure. We start in around 5 working days. In the meantime, we push plot 1 out of the ground & will swap places with the groundworkers.

We will be jumping between plot 1 & 2 while the foundations are being pulled throughout the rest of the site 👌

The state of the site when we left on Friday.

The sun was out & the beer garden in touching distance.

Still, we left with a spotless site. I even got in the excavator & flattened out where we had been working.

I said it on Friday & I’l say it again, go the extra mile & give more than is expected & watch what happens.

This morning we have a pristine site to work from. The standard is set.

Keeping up with these standards is easy when it’s kept on top of.
And guesse what, work is more efficent & enjoyable when your not working it an absolute dump.

Out client & the home owner are over the moon, some words from the owner that stuck in my head “it’s everything we imagined it to be” how nice is that to hear 🙂

When you give it your all and make customer satisfaction a priority, hearing that feedback makes it all worth it.

The build is 98% complete, we ran short so there is a few stones on the stringer course to put on & a final once over.

Cant wait to get that scaffold down and see it in all its glory.

I call it the MINIMUM standard expected pannel, not a sample pannel. If you cant meet it, I’m sorry but it’s not going to work.

Do you do a pannel on your jobs?

I build ours myself. Our clients picked us because they seen my work somewhere. It’s only right that I personally set the standard & expect that as a minimum result.

What finish do you prefer?
LHS half round smooth joint or RHS gloved (bagged) joint

Finally we’ve landed onsite on our new project in Northumberland.

Starting off how we mean to go on, with a clean, safe & organised site.

I’m sure you agree the footings can be a messy place to work, Big Nath is setting the standard for how a footing should look. Both while we work & after we finish.

There’s 9 really good size bungalows going up here & plot 1 & 2 are ready to go. With our main focus on plot 2, it’s already sold 🙂

As always, when we are done here, we will be leavening behind a first class product for 9 family’s to enjoy for years to come.
