The bond breaks. I knew it was going to break. And I carried on anyway.

This is either going to look absolutely unreal… or divide the bricklayers in the comments. 😂
The Flemish bond is properly starting to show now on our traditional new-build in Northumberland for @lucadevelopments
And with these York Handmade bricks, every single one is different — different texture, different colour, different character.
That’s exactly the point. 🔥
This isn’t brickwork designed to look perfectly uniform and manufactured. It’s designed to give the house that traditional, handmade appearance from day one.
And once this is pointed, the scaffold comes down and you’re looking at the full elevation with all the other brickwork details tied together…
I think it’s going to look MEGA. 👊🧱

But get the substructure wrong and everything above it pays the price.
We’re making good progress on the substructure of this new-build home in Northumberland for Luca Developments. 👊💪
Foundation blockwork is coming up, the footprint is taking shape and we’re getting closer to bringing this house out of the ground.
This stage might not be glamorous and get the attention that the brickwork will later in the build…
But this is what everything else sits on.
Get this right first. Then we can build something special above it. 🔥🧱

We’ve officially started one of the biggest and most detailed brickwork jobs we’ve ever taken on — an incredible traditional new-build home in Northumberland for @lucadevelopments
And we’re documenting the entire thing from the ground up. 🧱🎥

Chimney detailing.
In Episode 1, I take you around the project, show you exactly what we’re building, the progress we’ve already made and the CGI of what this place is eventually going to become.
There’s also a proper story behind how we landed this job.
We built the timber-frame house next door last year — a build already documented here on YouTube. That client introduced us to this one, we built a great relationship from there… and now we’re here.
One job led to another — and potentially one of the best projects we’ve ever had the opportunity to build.

Another week done, another one coming… and plenty still to build. 🧱
Business never really switches off when it’s yours.
Even on a Sunday you’re thinking about the jobs, the lads, money, what needs ordering, what’s coming next and how you keep moving everything forward.
But I wouldn’t swap it.
A few years ago I just wanted to earn a living laying bricks.
Now I’m building a business, managing jobs, working with some great clients and getting the opportunity to build projects I genuinely want my name attached to.
Still learning. Still grafting. Still plenty to improve.

I don’t just want to manage this one. I want to build it. 👀🧱
As the business grows, I know I can’t be on the tools forever.
The goal has always been to build a business that doesn’t rely on me laying bricks every day.
But then a job like this comes along…
And I genuinely want to build as much of this house myself as I can.
Handmade bricks. Flemish bond. Arches. Decorative brickwork. Proper traditional details.
It’s the sort of job that reminds me why I became a bricklayer in the first place.
I love running the business.
I love managing jobs.
I love seeing the company grow.
But I still fucking love laying bricks. 😂🧱
And when you get the opportunity to put your own workmanship into a house like this, it’s hard to stand back and watch somebody else do it.
So you’ll be seeing plenty of me on the trowel on this one. 👊

This little panel is about to become an entire house. 👀🧱
Sample panel done at our Northumberland new-build for Luca Developments — and I’m well happy with how this has come together.
York Handmade bricks laid in Flemish bond, with plenty of natural colour, texture and variation coming through.
This was the chance to get everything dialled in before we really get moving — bond, mortar, joint finish and the overall look of the brickwork.
And if this small panel is anything to go by… the finished house is going to look unreal. 🔥
Now imagine this with the arches, soldier courses, dental course, stonework and all the other detailing still to come.
This is exactly the type of brickwork I want our name attached to.
