Hey Sweeties, ๐ŸŸฆ
It's Saturday night where I am, and we switch the clocks back an hour, a few hours from now. This is evidently a topic that some people have very strong opinions about. (I just have to deal with the seasonal depression, regardless of what number the clock shows, so I don't really care.) How about you? Strong opinion that you're just burning to share with this little corner of the internet?
Whatever your feelings on the topic of Daylight Savings Time, you are valid and loved!

Hey,Sweeties! ๐ŸŸฆ
The living hostages are home, the turnout for the No Kings festivities were record-breaking, I have a very part-time job, and my birthday is next month. Life is far from perfect, but some things are looking up!
I just remembered that I have done a yearly Sweetness Review after the new Jewish year begins, but I don't know if that's going to happen this time. Sorry to disappoint, but I don't make promises that I don't think I can keep. But we can always find sweetness, when we remember to look for it.
Who wants to share a sweet thing that happened in the past year? Let's acknowledge each other's happy moments!
Whatever your life looks like right now, you are valid and loved!

Hey Sweeties! ๐ŸŸฆ
We're celebrating Simchat Torah in a few days, and I'll be doing what I like to call "my yearly act of defiance" as a queer, Jewish lady... Dancing with the Torah scroll! And to make this celebration sweeter, the remaining hostages are (supposed to be) finally coming home, after being held by Hamas for two years! ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿ™๐ŸŽ—๏ธ
What is your favorite life-affirming, possibly defiant (depending on who and where you are) activity? Or, what sweet, life-affirming thing would you like to try? (It doesn't have to be related to religious practice!)
Whoever you are, wherever you are, however you celebrate your continued existence, you are valid and loved!

A new year on the Jewish calendar has begun! Whether this is something you personally celebrate or not, here's hoping that 5786 is more peaceful, more hopeful, more prosperous, and more joyful than 5785 was! Gd bless us all! ๐Ÿ™๐ŸคŽ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€โšง๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ๐ŸŒ

Hey Sweeties! ๐ŸŸฆ
I wish I was up to posting more often. My mental health (like that of so many others) has been kinda ๐Ÿ’ฉ lately. But we're all still here. We WILL get through this, together!
Please always remember that you are valid and loved!

Okay, my technologically challenged side is showing... I tried to do an "easy" post with a picture. But new phone (one of those free ones, replacing a previous, malfunctioning free one) is giving me a hard time accessing pictures.
A wonderful person at my synagogue brought in a big batch of pronoun pins... in Hebrew! *Including neutral ones, which demonstrates the evolution of the language!* Hebrew is a very gendered language, and as far as my non-fluent self knows, there didn't used to be any ungendered/neutral words. This is especially exciting to me as a parent of a non-binary person! Anyway, I intend to share a picture of some of the pronoun pins when I can make the technology cooperate. ๐Ÿ˜…
Whatever language you use, whatever pronouns you use, wherever you are, you are valid and loved!

I believe that everyone with a public platform (of any size) who knows what's going on is obligated to do their best to share important information. And yes, I put this off for a few days...
First of all, I must confess that I don't know the very latest developments. *I am SO tempted to tell y'all just go subscribe to Noa Tishby here on YouTube, as that's where I'm getting most of my information. She's knowledgeable, eloquent, and reliable.
I am a pacifist by nature. As such, I recognize that those who are bent on violent domination need to be stopped. Am I to be among those who thank our current president for (without going through proper channels) did a needed thing? No. But I acknowledge it. Iran is currently being controlled by a violent, bigoted, dangerous regime. (Sound familiar?) Ensuring that they don't have nuclear capability is safer for the world, like it or not. No matter what @$$holes are in charge of *any* country or region, the innocent civilians deserve to live their lives in safety, security, health, and authenticity.
I don't know what else to say. Please stay safe, everyone! Wherever you're from, whoever makes the rules that you find yourself living by, please always remember that you are valid and loved.

Tomorrow, June 14th, there will be *peaceful* demonstrations for No Kings Day all over the US. Whatever y'all may have planned, please stay safe!
Also, Sunday will be Father's Day here in the US. Let's hear it for the bio dads, adoptive dads, honorary dads (looking at you, Roger!) seahorse dads, and step dads. Did I miss any category? Please let me know!
Whether or not being a parent is for you (and whether or not you attend protests) you are valid and loved!

I was just thinking of something I read a few years ago, about the laws of levirate marriage. (When, in a hetero marriage, the husband dies and there's no heir. If he has a brother, the brother is supposed to marry the widow, if she agrees. The first offspring of the union counts as the first husband's kid.) I remember it was talking about what men are excused or not excused from (offering to be in a) levirate marriage. I had to reread it several times, because I thought I was misunderstanding. But if the deceased man's brother is trans (ftm) he is *not* excused from this tradition!
Why is this a good thing, and who cares anyway?
Because a trans man can't impregnate his wife. But the marriage itself provides the wife with a protected legal status. Remember, this was a time and place that women had few, if any, rights. So it may LOOK like she is no more than a vessel, but the fact that a trans man can be the husband means 1) Halacha says trans rights! 2) women are more than just a uterus.
Going into Pride Month, remember that religion is a way to celebrate who and what we are. If your religious tradition isn't allowing that, it may be time to look for something more life affirming. Either way, you are valid and loved!

It's Mother's Day here in the US. Thank you to my three kids, without whom I wouldn't be a mama! Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms. Biological, adoptive, step (looking at you, Jeannette) honorary (looking at you, Polly) bonus, and any other kind of mom. You're all valid! ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’–
This is a picture I took of myself and my daughter the other day. It's not the best, but at the time, I didn't know she'd give me the go-ahead to post it! We're working toward living under the same roof again sometime soon.
Whoever you are, whether being a parent is for you or not, you are valid!
