Hey everyone — I need to be real with you for a minute.
Hair Metal Covers is basically one strike away from getting shut down. That’s why you’ve seen songs disappearing. The channel has been hit with copyright strikes/claims from major rights holders — including Warner Music Group (WMG), Sony Music Group, and Universal Music Group.
What’s frustrating is that the way this has played out has been inconsistent. Sony has mostly allowed revenue sharing, while Warner previously allowed some of the high-performing tracks to stay up under a claim… and then later issued a strike. I’ve always been willing to do revenue share (and “share” is used loosely, because it often means they take all the revenue). I’m not trying to dodge anyone — I just want to keep the music alive.
But the reality is: like a lot of channels in this space, this one may not last much longer if more strikes come in. And that honestly sucks… because I LOVE this music, and I love what AI can do when it’s used to celebrate the sound, the energy, and the era.
So here’s where things may change.
If/when I have to pivot, you’ll start seeing original songs and full albums that are inspired by the bands you love — the same spirit, the same attitude — but no copyrighted material, no infringement, just brand-new killer tracks.
My hope is that one day the labels chill out, the rules evolve, and I can bring this channel back to what it was originally meant to be.
