Hey everyone! Some of our YouTube viewers reached out about the recent "anti generative AI tweet/reply chain" we've been going through. Generative AI is a technology which is inevitable and currently has a place in almost everybody's lives. The AI behind the technology is the "first" step of the hypothetical intelligence boom point of the technological singularity. So the society in about 15‐20 years might be drastically different than what it is right now. Our point as a bunch of Turkish artists here is to maintain a sense of respect and appreciation for the human arts' authenticity in this limited time of art and culture as we know it. Of course everyone can use generative AI for whatever they want to do. But while doing it, contributing to the reduction of the need for real human art and artists is unacceptable. We as Autemials, while respecting everyone's way of usage of this technology, reject the usage of generative AI in songwriting and composing processes. Of course machine learning algorithms have been used actively in music production such as vocal fixes, audio quality enhancements, auto loops etc. But generative AI can take the core behind the music: the creation. That being said, every artist is free to use it of course, but it's not our cup of tea. By the way, we are not talking about people who type prompts to generative AI powered music makers, they are obviously not artists in any way, they are only consumers. We are talking about the real artists who can get ideas from AI but make the song with the given melody themselves. But it would still be unethical if they credited themselves as the one and only "songwriter" and "composer" behind the song. Most of the mainstream artists labelled as "songwriters" already have ghost songwriting teams tho, that's another problem. Staying on the topic, real artists who support artistic human creativity and consumers who love human arts should unite and create a way to preserve this authenticity. We should definitely let the heart of human arts' beat, in our case, music's. So dear music fans, enjoy whatever you want, but please respect the original human creativity, which is the only thing behind the generative abilities of a trained machine. And musicians, please respect your own creativity by keeping your work purely yours but if you collaborate with AI, at least please make it clear by pointing it out. We can make these limited times of society the golden age of human creativity by trying harder each time. Let human creativity boom first, by then the machine intelligence will.
