No new video this week since I've been working super hard on my new illustration book 👀
This is my "Tokyo Hidden Gems" series, where I introduce my favorite (non-touristy) things to do in different areas in Tokyo, and everything is drawn on location in that neighborhood!
English version will be available on my Etsy store when I publish this in April (with worldwide shipping)
I'll be uploading a new sketching adventure video next week ✨ Stay tuned!
NEW VIDEO✨ I painted in the snow again ❄️ On this trip to northern Japan, I got to sketch a quaint, picturesque town that looks straight out of a Ghibli movie, hug and draw an adorable baby fox, and witness the magical phenomenon of "Snow Monster" trees in Mount Zao.
NEW VIDEO! It's the highly-requested INK MIXING tutorial that I mentioned in my last video about my art supplies.
I'm sharing the secret recipe to my signature gold sepia ink that I use for all my line work, and I'm also going to try a bunch of fun color mixes! Hope you enjoy these experiments! ✨
Ahhh I can’t believe it! I passed 1000 subs within 50 days of starting this channel and with only 4 videos!!
Thank you THANK YOU to everyone who watched, subscribed, and wrote me words of encouragement and support.
I was really nervous about starting a new channel from scratch in 2026, when there’s already a trove of great content out there, but you guys have shown me so much love and proved that there’s always room for a new perspective 😊
My goal for this channel is to inspire more people to grab a pen, head outside, and record little moments of joy in your life. So, consider this your sign to go touch some grass and make some art today! 🌱✨
P.S. pictured is my latest journal spread in my “Tokyo Hidden Gems” series, where I explore a new neighborhood in Tokyo and document my favorite things about it. This one is from Sangen-jaya, an old-timey but artsy area with many cute shops in hidden alleyways, and a special lucky cat train!
English version will be available when I publish this zine (hopefully in April)
❄️☃️ Last week, I got to paint in the snow at a beautiful Ghibli-esque town in rural Japan, hugged a fox puppy, and saw the awe-inspiring “snow monsters” of Zao!
I was supposed to post this video next, but so many of you asked about ink mixing from my last art kit video that I decided to work on that one first 😬 Ink mixing video will be up this weekend and after that I can share my very cool (literally) art adventure with y'all!
NEW VIDEO!! Finally, I'm breaking down this travel art kit that I spent 6 YEARS perfecting! 👩🎨
Plus, I'll also share tips for how to sketch quickly on the fly, and how to enjoy the process of capturing your life with art, turning them into beautiful memories that you'll cherish for a lifetime ✨
My top 10 most memorable sketches from 2025 👩🎨 Check my NEW VIDEO to see the full story behind them! 🎦 【 Travel Sketchbook Tour 2025 】 https://youtu.be/_cvY5Tbf0VI
1. I met and sketched the SWEETEST old couple who ran a cafe in the tea mountains of Taipei
2. Met a local Thai sketcher while painting a forest temple in Chiang Mai, and I asked her to finish my painting!
3. Sketching an ethereal, dreamy wisteria garden in Japan
4. Sketching sakura from a bridge in Kyoto, with petals were falling all around me
5. I showed my sketch to the lovely couple who ran a fruit stand in Chiang Mai, and they treated me to their fresh fruits!
6. Painting lazy, care-free cows at a ranch in the Japanese countryside
7. My watercolor froze as I painted in the snow!
8. Sketching a beautiful old-timey town in Illinois, USA
9. Riding a crazy speeding tuk-tuk in Bangkok (and re-creating that scene in my sketchbook)
10. Drawing the derpy and adorable Kumamon bear at his home in Kumamoto, Japan
👀 I know I’m WAYYYY too late to the 2025 recap game, but this video took absolutely FOREVER to edit, since I had to dig through thousands of clips shot over the whole year, ugh.
Hope this inspires you to go out and sketch more! ✨
I recently sat down and sorted through 3 years of footage of my sketches across Japan. It felt like time-traveling! It was so rewarding to put together this colorful recap of my paintings through the four unique and beautiful seasons here. From frozen fingers in the snow to the dreamy pink of Kyoto’s cherry blossoms, I’m so happy to share this journey with you.
