Anyway, spoilers for that and the rest of the series ahead. And everything in the quotation marks is quoted from the books, so yeah...

Okay, so I just got to the part where Adena made Makoto the vest, and in it she wrote "See you in the sky" in PURPLE THREAD... What's on the cover? PURPLE THREAD--- AHAHAH NOOOOOOOOO-

Anyway, Mak said, "Because one day - far from now - you will be up there beside them, outshining every single one." Like... not that far from now but okay...

And then she said, "And will you be beside me up there?"

And then he said, "If I should be so lucky."

And she said, "Promise me. I don't want to be alone."

And then he said, "I promise, Dena."

DURING KITT"S DEATH HE LITERALLY SAID THAT HE WAS SCARED AND HE DIDN'T WANT TO BE ALONE-

And then when Mak died, he said to Payden "See..." and he was going to say, "See you in the stars." Which is PAINFUL (that should be the next book. Painless and Painful.)

AND THEN, in Kitt's afterlife, he saw two stars- WHO WAS JUST TALKING ABOUT ADENA BEING A STAR AND MAK BEING THERE WITH HER? HUH? HUH?

Anyway, some hot takes:
-I LOVED Kitt and I felt really bad for his upbringing, an I did for Kai too, but I'm talking about Kitt rn. Anyway, all Kitt ever wanted was love and only got it from Kai, who was drifting away to Payden... And then he just wanted to be great and- look, I can't justify this online, I just can't, but anyway...
-Mak x Adena is cuter than Kai x Payden. Okay, let me rephrase that. Kai and Peyden are perfect and I love them and the whole story was about them, but the doomed sad love that came from the 'opposites attract' stereotype is so cute - and the foreshadowing is beautiful. But all in all, I think they both tie for best couple.

I don't have any other takes rn, but yeah, my heart is broken, and also I haven't read Fearful so no spoilers in the comments.
