When you’re trying to lighten wood, which type of bleach do you usually reach for?

I’m testing both peroxide and two-part bleach in my next few videos — curious what everyone else is using most.

From Brown to Oatmeal: A Wood Bleaching Transformation

Ever looked at a piece of furniture and thought, "This could be so much lighter and brighter"? That's exactly what I aimed for with this project.

Using a two-part wood bleach, I transformed this dark, dated wood into a soft, neutral oatmeal tone. It's not just about aesthetics; it's about giving old furniture a new lease on life.

In my latest blog post, I delve into:

The step-by-step process of using two-part wood bleach

Safety tips and precautions

How to achieve consistent results across different wood types

Ever grabbed a filler and realised halfway through… it’s not strong enough?

Here’s the quick difference between 1K and 2K wood fillers—because they’re not interchangeable.

🔹 1K (one-part)
No mixing. Great for filling nail holes, small dings, and shallow surface damage. It’s fast, convenient, and super easy to use.

🔹 2K (two-part)
You add a hardener. It sets rock hard and can be sanded and shaped like wood. This is what you want when you’re rebuilding missing corners, broken edges—or in my case, a mid-century teak handle.

Both are available from Borma Wachs in 17 wood colours, including Oak, Walnut, Teak, and Mahogany.

💬 Any questions about how they handle, sand, or blend? Drop them below—I’m happy to share what worked for me.

This isn’t your average wood filler—and it’s definitely not Bondo.

I needed to repair a broken teak drawer handle—but I didn’t have the tools (or the nerve) to rip out the damaged section and remake it from scratch. So I tried something I’d never used before:

Borma Wachs 2K Wood Filler
✔️ Two-part system (you add a hardener)
✔️ Hardens fast—about 15 minutes
✔️ Sands smooth and holds shape
✔️ Comes in 17 wood tones, including Teak

The teak colour was a little too brown for my red-toned mid-century piece, but I adjusted it with Borma Wachs (‪@bormawachs6260‬) retouch markers—and loved the final result.

What really sets this apart from Bondo?
→ It’s made for wood
→ It’s tinted to match actual furniture tones
→ And it’s a European Product!

Want to see the full breakdown of when I’d use the 2K vs 1K version of wood filler?
I’ve shared all the details in the blog— boldwallflowers.com/borma-wachs-wood-fillers/

I tested 4 products to remove ink from wood — and let’s just say, some worked better than others.

This board went through baking soda, denatured alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, and acetone.

Clear winners. Clear losers.
