Problemas con bandadas de gansos o con halcones? Entonces si fueras ruso, irías al mártir santo Trifon (Tryphon). Se dijo que era un ganso de niño en el siglo III. También podría mantener a los insectos de sus cultivos y exorcizar demonios, en la creencia popular rusa. Además, una leyenda rusa posterior dice que un hombre llamado Trifon era un falconer para el zar Iván "el Terrible". Mientras cazaba un día, permitió que el halcón del zar escapara, y le dijeron que si no encontraba al halcón desaparecido en tres días sería ejecutado. Buscó durante dos días sin resultados. Al tercer día, exhausto, oró a su nombre de santo Trifon y luego se durmió. Soñó que veía a un joven en un caballo blanco, sosteniendo el halcón del zar por un lado. El joven le dijo que tomara el halcón y lo llevara al zar. Cuando el falconer se despertó, vio al halcón del zar sentado en un árbol, y se lo devolvió a su jefe "Terrible" (¿no son muchos de ellos?).

Aunque Trifon era conocido en Rusia antes del siglo XVI, no era un santo prominente. Fue sólo en ese siglo que su veneración comenzó a crecer allí.

Aquí hay un icono de Trifon en la forma popular en el siglo XVIII a principios del siglo XX. Incluye a los gansos de su juventud, así como el caballo blanco y el halcón de la leyenda rusa del sueño del falconer; la inscripción dice, "Santo Mártir Trifon ]el] Trabajador de las Maravillas":

Trouble with flocks of geese or with falcons? Then if you were a Russian, you would go to the martyr saint Trifon (Tryphon). He was said to have been a gooseherd as a child in the 3rd century. He could also keep insects from your crops and exorcise demons, in popular Russian belief. In addition, a later Russian legend says that a man named Trifon was a falconer for Tsar Ivan “the Terrible.” While out hunting one day, he allowed the Tsar’s falcon to escape, and was told that if he did not find the missing falcon in three days he would be executed. He looked for two days without results. On the third day, exhausted, he prayed to his name saint Trifon and then fell asleep. He dreamed he saw a young man on a white horse, holding the Tsar’s falcon on one hand. The young man told him to take the falcon and bring it to the Tsar. When the falconer awoke, he saw the Tsar’s falcon sitting in a tree, and returned it to his “Terrible” boss (aren’t lots of them?).

Though Trifon was known in Russia before the 16th century, he was not a prominent saint. It was only in that century that his veneration began to grow there.

Here is an icon of Trifon in the form popular in the 18th to early 20th centuries. It includes the geese from his youth as well as the white horse and falcon from the Russian legend of the falconer’s dream; the inscription reads, “Holy Martyr Trifon ]the] Wonderworker”:

Juan se dice en Apocalipsis 1:11:

Lo que ves, escribe en un libro y envíalo a las siete iglesias que están en Asia; a Efeso, y a Esmirna, y a Pérgamo, y a Tiatira, y a Sardis, y a Filadelfia, y a Laodicea.

Así que esa parte del icono representa a Juan presentando su mensaje de revelación a los ángeles de las siete iglesias. Cada ángel se para frente a un edificio y sostiene un pergamino que lleva el mensaje destinado a esa iglesia en particular.

John is told in Revelation 1:11:

What you see, write in a book, and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia; to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamos, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.

So that portion of the icon depicts John presenting his message of revelation to the angels of the seven churches. Each angel stands in front of a building and holds a scroll bearing the message intended for that particular church.

Así que esta aparición "serafa" de Jesús lo identifica como "Santa Sabiduría", Sofía, la Sabiduría de Dios, el "ángel del gran consejo". El punto de tal representación es demostrar que Jesús, el Logos/Palabra eterna, nació como una figura humana/divina y fue crucificado. Y que esta crucifixión es el sacrificio auto-ofrenda de Cristo como Gran Sumo Sacerdote, y como tal, es sacerdote para siempre en el orden de Melquisedec, que precedió al sacerdocio levítico posterior de los judíos.

So this “seraph” appearance of Jesus identifies him as “Holy Wisdom,” Sophia, the Wisdom of God, the “Angel of Great Counsel.” The point of such a representation is to demonstrate that Jesus, the eternal Logos/Word, was born as a human/divine figure and was crucified. And that this crucifixion is the self-offering sacrifice of Christ as Great High Priest, and as such, he is a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek, which preceded the later Levitical priesthood of the Jews.
