MultiversalMusings

A channel where Star Trek meets DC Comics.

Expect Breakdowns. Reviews. LEGO. Community.

Welcome to MultiversalMusings! This channel is dedicated to the optimistic side of sci-fi and superheroes. From analysing the latest trailers to building LEGO Enterprises, I celebrate the stories that make us look toward the stars.

My Five-Year Mission: The world is a dark place sometimes, but this channel is a space for positivity. I believe in lifting each other up, not tearing each other down. So, to anyone struggling right now: You matter. Your life has value, and the world is a better place because you are in it. Keep going. Keep believing. Let's explore together.

Today I witnessed the first openly homophobic attack I've ever seen in public, and I can't stop thinking about it.

I was at work, watering the plants, when I heard angry shouting from the other side of a hedge. I couldn't see what was happening, but I heard one man aggressively screaming, "Get back in the closet. Get back in the fucking closet! You should be ashamed," and other hateful things at what I can only assume was another man.

Hearing those words screamed with so much hatred and anger was genuinely so disheartening. It made my stomach turn just witnessing it, and I can't begin to imagine how the person those words were directed at must have felt.

No one should have to endure that kind of abuse simply for being who they are. Everyone deserves to feel safe being themselves. We can, and we should, be better than this.

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about what actually makes a "masterpiece." After the deep dive into The Batman, I felt like I had to go back to the original gold standard: The Empire Strikes Back.

Is it actually the best film ever made, or are we just looking at it through nostalgia-tinted glasses? I tried to break it down using a modern Hollywood lens to see if the structure still holds up today.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this one, it’s a bit of a different direction for the channel, but I had a blast making it.

Which "Masterpiece" breakdown of mine did you enjoy more?

The Batman or The Empire Strikes Back?

Just watched some Daredevil Born Again with Dad and they've introduced this serial killer called Muse. Fucker stole my name.

Just got back from watching Supergirl, and I absolutely loved it.

Milly was phenomenal. She completely embodied Kara in a way that felt effortless. I genuinely can't overstate how perfect she was in the role.

Honestly, all the negative reviews only made me appreciate the film even more. Milly absolutely soars. I never understood the criticism that the film looked ugly; I thought it had a striking visual style. Krem wasn't the most memorable villain, but I don't think he was nearly as forgettable as Twitter has claimed. He was a little understated, sure, but I thought he was played well. A different vibe from the comic I know but still, I liked it.

And holy shit... this film gets dark. Interstellar child trafficking, characters being killed off when you fully expected them to have plot armour, it wasn't afraid to go to some surprisingly heavy places and once again didn't dumb it down for the kids watching, which is something I'm loving with the DCU so far.

What I loved most, though, was Kara herself. She's messy, broken and deeply traumatised, but she never loses hope. Her methods may differ from Clark's, but her heart and her goal are exactly the same: to do good. The promise her mum made her keep on her deathbed to always be a good person, no matter what was such a beautiful, defining moment for her entire identity. It perfectly captures who Kara is and this version is an incredible role model for young girls. Couldn't be happier with this film.

Onto season 3 of Daredevil... top three superhero shows of all time, easily. I know I cover mostly DC and Star Trek, but Daredevil has long been my favourite Marvel character. And I have been thinking about branching out and covering other franchises, should I do Daredevil content on the channel?

Heading back to a franchise I swore I had left behind for the next review. Image is related. Any guesses?

Boy, the world is so incredibly dark at the moment, so I thought I'd just check in and make sure you guys are all doing okay. June is men's mental month, and so if you need help I urge you to go out and get the help you need, and I implore you to open up to others in your life, I know I myself have struggled to admit I need help in the past, and there is no shame in it. We all need help, that doesn't make us weak, it makes us human.

Please feel free to put your thoughts/ramblings in the comments, this channel is a safe space. You are heard. You are enough. I am proud of you for carrying on through the battles no one else knows about.

Just back from watching Backrooms in the cinema. Holy shit. It was phenomenonal. I had very little knowledge about the concept going in, and that made it so much better. Very rarely do you get something so fresh, surreal and deeply unsettling but this was just mind blowing. Very Lynchian. The acting was fantastic too. Please go see it. Best horror film I have seen in years. There are some genuinely unnerving scenes in it that really creeped me out that really played into the uncanny valley. So proud of Kane Parsons, to go from making Backrooms videos on YouTube with his pals to becoming a genuine Hollywood director. Please go and support this movie.

Also as part of the double bill, I saw Disclosure Day, enjoyed that too. I feel the best way to sum up Spielberg is just to say he's a very steady pair of hands, he just makes very watchable films, and this was no exception.

All in all, a very good day that reminded me of why I love movies so much.
