I am based in East Asia and have spent nearly 15 years in the region. The majority of my time was spent in China but I'm very familiar with the entire region. I finally saw the movie 'Matewan'. After doing research for my recent video on Matewan and physically going there, seeing how the movie really brought it to life was very powerful. Also, as soon as it started I could see that they filmed it in Thurmond, West Virginia - which is another place I visited and one of the most haunting visuals of an old Appalachian ghost town that you'll ever see. It was filmed in 1987 but stands the test of time. Great movie, great cast, great acting - highly recommended.
