It's truly unfortunate because I'm one of the only people - or maybe THE ONLY person living in China making honest videos about China. No shilling. No propaganda. Just the truth. I just uploaded a new video from my Great Appalachian Tour series and you don't want to miss this one! I went to a struggling place called Gary, West Virginia - a former coal town that contributed a lot of fueling the US war machine in both World Wars, but nowadays it's hitting VERY hard times. Honestly, out of my entire Appalachian journey, it was the one place where I didn't feel comfortable taking my camera out and feeling. A local warned me that even just walking around I need to watch my step (he didn't even know that I was planning to film - I'm confident he would have strongly warned me against it). Not bad people out there - I'm sure there are some of the nicest folks you'd ever meet out there, but the town sorta has this feeling once you're in that getting out isn't that easy - there's a long loop of a road that goes around a church that leads you out, but when you're in that town, there's a sense of sort of being pretty deep in with no quick easy way out. NO DISRESPECT INTENDED! This video is NOT a negative piece about Gary! It's just a glimpse into the town's reality, a look at its history and my honest opinions. If anything, just like I mention in the video, we US citizens owe a lot of gratitude to places like Gary for their contributions to our nation!
