Welcome! My name is Mike and welcome to The Bored Cyborg. On this channel you'll find videos and livestreams on genre films and video games, as well as my own short films, skits, music, and whatever comes to mind. I cover mostly genre, horror, cult, bizarre, and obscure film videos, but also retro and modern video game videos and streams. I’ll also be doing lists, ranking videos, DVD/Blu-ray/VHS collection update videos, thrifting videos, film studies, series reviews and much more. My goal is to be informative and entertaining, build a sense of community, and one day make a feature film.

Hey, Everyone. Tonight I’ll be co-hosting a livestream with my friend, and the owner of the game shop I help manage (Play N Trade, Garner, NC), Billy aka @SoundwaveSpectre. It is scheduled for 9:00pm EST over on his channel, and I hope that you could all join and show some love to a mom and pop retro game shop. We will be discussing an incredibly cool and clean lot of Sega Genesis games, all complete in box, that came into the store, and going over each title as we wade through the heady seas of nostalgia. Come with us on this journey to the past!

Final Destination is one of the horror franchises I have the most fun with. I love how death is a character—you feel its presence as it moves through a window and flutters a curtain. It lays out its macabre, mouse-trap like plan to knock the fateful survivors off one by one. You cannot escape death—that is the core theme. But, I must know, is Final Destination a slasher?

Candyman is a film that haunted me in the early to mid ‘90s. I’d see it at the video store time and time again, and it slowly crept into my childish psyche. I used to imagine what the film was like based on what the box said, as well as the unrelenting visage of The Candyman—he wore a brown winter trench coat and wielded a hook for a hand, spewing bees from his mouth. It literally haunted my dreams for years. That is, until I saw it. Then those nightmares became a filmic reality for me, disturbed and entertained, and I fell in love with the film and its titular character. My friends and I would repeat Candyman’s name five times to a mirror, scaring the ghost out of each other. As I’ve gotten older I’ve realized the film is a stark and gritty reflection of the experience of growing up and living in American Housing Protects. The brutal, cold, and fear-ridden reality of them is perfectly reflected in the film’s atmosphere and aesthetic that is hammered home with The Candyman, and the multitude of inner city fears that he enlivens. It is a smart horror film and a social commentary with a lot to say, and purveys a serious social message that we don’t get too often these days. I love this movie very much, but… is it a slasher film?

I have been mainlining slashers for the past 3 weeks and I’ve had a ton of fun doing so. Next Tuesday, 9/30, I am doing a livestream ranking the top 100 slashers I have seen. Up for tonight is an interesting one, and I’m curious where it will land in my ranking. I really enjoyed this film when I saw it in my teens, and I’m hoping this Broken Lizard comedy/slasher holds up well. What are thoughts about this one? Please share below!

Hellraiser from 1987 is Clive Barker’s sadomasochistically gruesome feature film debut. Brilliant practical effects interweave with the enigmatic and threatening antagonist, Pinhead of the Cenobites, who is an icon of horror. But, is Hellraiser a slasher film?

An underappreciated icon of horror is the Leprechaun played by Warwick Davis. Do you consider these movies slashers?

Today, I am going to do a live stream ranking of... well, something. I need your help!
Which tier-ranking would you rather see?

Hello, Everyone! I will be livestreaming a tier-ranking today, but I'm oscillating between two ideas... Jackie Chan's Starring roles/Directed films, or Steven Spielberg's Directed films (the ones of which I've seen, of course). I've seen most of their respective filmographies, so I feel it's a good time to cover two of the greats, which also happen to be two of my favorites.
Thanks for your input--see you guys soon!
