WHO IS A VICAR GENERAL?

Have you ever heard the title “Vicar General” and wondered what it means?

A Vicar General is the principal assistant to the Archbishop, entrusted with helping him shepherd the Archdiocese. He assists in the pastoral and administrative leadership of the local Church, ensuring that the mission of Christ continues to flourish through the faithful service of priests, religious, and lay faithful.

Today, we are pleased to introduce Very Rev. Fr. Bonaventure G. Annan, the Vicar General of the Catholic Archdiocese of Cape Coast.

Ordained to the priesthood in 1987, Very Rev. Fr. Bonaventure G. Annan has faithfully dedicated decades of his life to the service of God and His Church. Today, he serves as the principal collaborator of Most Rev. Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle, assisting in the pastoral care, administration, and mission of the Archdiocese of Cape Coast.

His priestly ministry continues to inspire many through humility, dedication, and faithful service to the People of God.

As a Church, we thank God for the gift of his vocation and pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to grant him wisdom, strength, good health, and abundant grace as he carries out his responsibilities.

🙏 Please remember Very Rev. Fr. Bonaventure G. Annan, our Archbishop, and all priests of the Archdiocese of Cape Coast in your prayers.

“The greatest among you must be your servant.” — Matthew 23:11

Do you know this great shepherd of the Church?

Comment his FULL pastoral name below. 👇🏾
Let’s see how many Catholics get it right. 😊

Before he became Archbishop…
Before the titles…
Before the honours…

He was simply a young man who answered God’s call.

Born in Kakumdo in 1942, Most Rev. Matthias Kobina Nketsiah dedicated his life to serving Christ and His Church. From parish ministry to seminary formation, from Canon Law studies in Rome to leading the Archdiocese of Cape Coast, his journey has been one of faith, sacrifice, and service.

A priest for over 50 years.
A bishop, teacher, canon lawyer, and former Metropolitan Archbishop of Cape Coast.

Today, we honour a shepherd whose quiet dedication has touched countless lives.

May God continue to bless and strengthen our Archbishop Emeritus.
