I can now look back at a few different projects I’ve done over the past few years, and “Reflections” was by far the most conceptually and visually ambitious work I’ve completed. What began as an exploration of grief and loss eventually turned into a much larger and more comprehensive looking back and chronicling of my past, my life, and my relationships with many people, places, and activities.

For a while now, I have considered my overall musical project a “journey” of sorts. Not only a journey for myself and my work, but a journey through life that I wanted to share with others. Although the music is always the linchpin of my work, I didn’t want to just make a standalone collection of piano covers for “Reflections.” I wanted to create arrangements of some incredible game music to tell stories about different parts of my life, and to help express them through personal visuals and writing.

The process was nearly eighteen months of some of the most mentally and emotionally draining work that I’ve engaged with, but it was also a very cathartic process. While the stories and situations I presented were specific to me, it was my hope that, in having seen some of the life events I’ve gone through, others might feel slightly less alone as they’re going through struggles and difficult times of their own.

In addition to giving me the space to create artful ruminations on some of the saddest, most impactful parts of my life, the process of producing “Reflections” has also helped me look back at many of the beautiful parts of my life and my past as well. It allowed me to be grateful for those times, and for all those who have inspired, loved, and supported me throughout this journey.

I often like to believe that in some way, no matter how big or small, we’re all in this shared, scary, messy experience of “life” together. Although my work here may only borrow your attention for a fleeting fraction of the day, I always hope that it may bring some joy, some beauty, or a feeling of greater connection to the world with it.

For those who continue to explore my work and support me through listens, likes, and the occasional kind words, it always brightens my day tremendously and truly helps keep me going. I’m grateful I’m able to share this journey with you, and I can’t wait to see where it takes us in the future.

As always, thanks for the love and support. Y’all are the greatest.
