♡ MACHINE GHOST is all urs and u can listen now. making this song felt like tearing a piece of myself off and being opened up in the most cathartic way possible. i wanted it to sound like every experience i’ve ever had in my life that has caused me to feel out of my own body.
i felt the phrase “ghost in the machine” so heavily. making this song was just answering the questions: if my body was a machine in those moments - what would it sound like, if my mind was the ghost that was observing my body, what would it say & how do they clash in the production , the song, in my life, my interactions with people i love ? ? ? i wanted this song to stutter and freeze up and and fall apart and feel hollow and then build itself up again before repeating over and over like a broken record. this song is a reflection on every experience of sickness and sex and the shame of exhaustion that took me so far away from myself.
i had that first verse stashed away for four years, and then it all spilled out in one afternoon in my garden shed. ( a thanku @nathanboddy for the beautiful mix ) this song is my favourite so far and i am so grateful to share so thanku.
