In the battle of Sirsa, Bhai Bachittar Singh Ji was hit by two bullets below his heart, near his side. As a result, Bhai Bachittar Singh Ji did not die but became unconscious. Baba Ajit Singh Ji carried him on his horse and somehow reunited with the group of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. There was a haveli near Ropar belonging to Nihang Khan, and he was one of the well-wishers of Dasam Patshah. He came to meet Guru Gobind Singh Ji and requested that the Guru come to his haveli, saying it belonged to him. Guru Gobind Singh Ji, along with his 35 Singhs, reached his haveli. He requested of the Guru that he should let the enemy forces come. "First I will die with my family, then the army will come towards you." The tenth Guru said that his devotion was accepted, but he had another service to do: "A dear Singh of ours, Bhai Bachittar Singh, is in an injured state; take care of him." Guru Gobind Singh Ji, along with his Singhs, marched from Ropar towards Chamkaur. The news from the spies reached the Turks, and they arrived at Nihang Khan's haveli. They questioned Kotla Nihang Khan, "We have to investigate if Guru Gobind Singh is staying here with his army." Nihang Khan was very angry and said, "You can search; if you find him, you can cut off my head; if you don't find him, then you can leave." They searched but found nothing. When they were about to enter the room where Bhai Bachittar Singh was, Nihang Khan stopped them and said, "This is the room of my son-in-law and my daughter; they cannot go inside here." So the army returned. The 17-year-old Bibi Mumtaz, who was engaged to be married, had always considered Bhai Bachittar Singh as her husband and never married.Bibi Mumtaz right at the moment accepted Bhai Bachittar Singh ji as her husband and lived with this commitment of love and trust. Two days later Bhai Bachittar Singh Ji was martyred. Bhai ji probably didn't even know about this, but still Bibi Mumtaz didn't break this pledge of trust and love. She showed the true meaning of love and sacrifice, which we lack today.
