At *The Spear of Workers*, we do **not** allow any worker to suffer alone at work. We are not an organisation that waits for you to reach a crisis before stepping in. From the very first day you join us, we walk with you through every challenge – big or small – so you never take a single step alone.

We assist you with **everyday problems** that employers often ignore, such as:
• Salaries that are not transparent or inconsistent
• Payslips that do not make sense
• Unfair written warnings or disciplinary actions
• Harassment, intimidation or victimisation
• Emotional or physical abuse
• Unfair treatment from supervisors, managers, HR officers or bosses
• Any misunderstanding at work that may lead to serious future cases

We intervene **before small issues grow into big problems**. From day one, your employer must feel our presence behind you. We make it clear that you are **not an easy target**. If they try to push you, they must be ready for a strong and lawful push-back supported by The Spear of Workers. Our goal is to eliminate abuse at its roots.

We also assist workers to make supervisors, managers, HR and employers **account legally** for their actions when they misuse power or violate your rights.

We welcome members from **all industries**, even if you already have a union that is failing to support you. You do not need to resign from your union. We help you **hold them accountable** to perform the duties they owe you as their member. At The Spear of Workers, we become your **backup protection** against both the employer and the union if it fails you.

### **OUR PROCESS OF ASSISTING MEMBERS IN WORKPLACE DISPUTES**

**1. REPORTING THE ISSUE**
You contact us immediately when a problem starts. We collect all important details, documents, messages and evidence.

**2. ASSESSMENT & GUIDANCE**
We analyse your case, identify your rights, and guide you on what to do and what not to do while we prepare your support strategy.

**3. DIRECT ADVICE BEFORE YOU ACT**
We coach you step-by-step on how to respond to instructions, meetings, warnings, or any communication from the employer.
Nothing is done without you informing us first.

**4. FORMAL INTERVENTION**
If the employer continues with unfair behaviour, we issue letters, inquiries or notices that demand compliance, explanation or correction.

**5. PREVENTION OF FURTHER ABUSE**

THE WOLF AND THE MEAT – PART 1 (T

There is the sound of boiling water bubbling in a pot set over a wood fire. A young man’s hand appears, lifts the pot, and pours the water into a bowl, then adds cold water to cool it down. He removes his vest and hangs it over a folding chair. He is a bull of a man — broad, strong, and scarred. His back is covered in old marks, as if someone once carved him with a hot blade. You would swear someone treated him like the sacrificial lamb of ancient rituals.

These scars are old, fully healed, but they leave questions behind:
Who would strike another person like this?
Why?
These were no accidental wounds — someone made them on purpose. Did they hurt?

The young man is physically perfect, built like a warrior, arms thick and powerful. No wonder he is sweating after training. Just above his heart there is a circular scar, perfectly aligned with another on his back. It looks like something entered from the front and exited behind.

He splashes water on his face — the phone rings. He grabs a dry towel, wipes his face, and goes to the chair, moving a few clothes aside.

There is a very old cellphone beneath them — the kind from around 1940, perhaps. The buttons are hardly visible, the kind you only use for calling. Maybe it sends messages, but who knows.

“It’s done,” he says without greeting.

“Are you certain?”

“The duck is being herded as we speak.”

“You made no mistakes?”

“Have I ever? I did exactly as instructed. His death looks like a heart attack. No one will suspect murder.”

“You’ve done excellent work. You’ll receive your payment when you return. How long will you stay there?”

“I’m not sure. It’s hunting season. You know I love hunting. I’ll be here for a while. You’ll see me when I return.”

“I still don’t understand you. How do you leave a comfortable life in the city to live alone in the wild?”

“You wouldn’t understand. I need to stay connected to nature.”

“Fine. I’ll contact you if I find a new client needing your skills.”

“Alright.” He ends the call, shaking his head. He looks at the phone as if he might see the person he just spoke to.

On the chair lies a wallet, open. Inside are driving documents with his photograph. The name reads:

Ethan Cole, 37 years old.

He finishes washing his face and upper body, then removes the rest of his clothes and steps fully into the basin. Ignore what’s hanging down — it may startle others, but it doesn’t bother him. He starts washing it with a soapy towel, scrubbing thoroughly. He rinses with cupped hands. It stands freely, impressive like a proud warrior’s spear. He doesn’t feel shy or concerned; he simply continues bathing and steps out of the water. He heads to a small bag containing clean clothes.

Ethan’s days are all similar.
In the morning, he wakes early, goes for a run, returns and does push-ups and other exercises. Then he heads into the forest to maintain his shooting skill — or to hunt.

When he hunts, he gives himself hours. If he wanted to, he could catch an antelope with his bare hands. Look — there is one grazing near him while he lies flat on his stomach, observing through his scope.

When he works, he becomes motionless, silent. He won’t move unless necessary. A venomous snake appears, sliding right across his neck, flicking its tongue. He doesn’t move at all. His eyes remain fixed on the antelope. He only watches until it passes. He doesn’t shoot it; he already has meat at home. Killing without need is wasteful. He cannot stand destruction.

Back in his cabin, the old cellphone rings again.

“Is there a new client?”

“A businessman. He wants you to remove the woman who is his wife. I know you dislike killing women, but I think this one will make sense.”

“I’m listening.”

“She married him for money. After one year she became unfaithful. Now she wants a divorce. If they divorce, she will take millions from him. She must die — and it must not look like an accident or murder. It must appear natural. That is why your skills are needed.”

“You know how delicate that is. I’ll have to get close to her, learn about her. Killing someone while making it look natural isn’t easy — you must know their weaknesses, how to trigger something that appears like an ordinary cause of death. What’s the deadline?”

“As I said — the divorce process has already begun. The clock is ticking. You don’t have much time.”

“So I must start soon. He must pay double my usual rate. Half now for my expenses, and the rest once the job is done.”

“Don’t worry. Do the job well. If you succeed, one million rand is yours. That’s nothing compared to the millions he could lose.”

“One million? 1 million?”

“You heard correctly. So drop everything and focus on the assignment. You have one month. Two weeks would be ideal, three if complications arise.”

“Where is the contract?”

“In Silverwood City. You’ll stay in the husband’s home. You’ll receive a temporary position as a driver or bodyguard for the wife, to get close to her.”

“That close? What if…”

“Don’t worry. Everything has been arranged.”

“Fine.”

The next day, he heads to Silverwood City, using an address he was given. It is easy to find. The house is large, with a beautiful green lawn and immaculate landscaping. Flowers everywhere. He stops at the gate — it opens and he enters. He arrived using a hired vehicle; he left his own car back at his home in Eastport.

“Good day, madam. I assume you are the lady of the house — Mrs. Harrington?” he greets the woman who opened the gate. He recognizes her from a photograph.

“I know who you are. I know why you’re here,” she answers.

“I don’t understand. I’m not hiding anything — I’m here for work. I’ll be your driver and bodyguard. Hired by your husband.”

“Bullsh#t! You’re an assassin, hired by my husband to kill me. You are Ethan Cole, known as Shadow — because your victims see only your shadow before they die. I am fortunate enough to receive special treatment. But what you don’t know is that this is a setup. I am not the target.”

“What do you mean?”

“You don’t know? I thought you were smarter. Victor wants me dead, yes — but he wants YOU dead as well. You are the real target. Since you are here, they will strike easily. You walked right into the trap they set.”

“I don’t believe this. How do you know all this?”

“You think I’m stupid? You think I married a millionaire because I’m a fool?”

“Do you have proof of what you’re saying? Because I am only a bodyguard.”

“You’re still clinging to that bodyguard lie?”

“Because it’s true.”

She laughs. “Fine then — bodyguard. Enjoy your funeral.”

“Alright, but tell me — if you know your husband wants you dead, why haven’t you run away?”

“Because I have plans of my own. I have a proposal: YOU kill my husband first. I will pay you double what he offered. Enough money to retire. That man is nearly a billionaire. If you eliminate him, you can become a millionaire. How does ten million sound?”

She inhales her cigarette, thin smoke curling from her red-painted lips. She looks elegant but deadly. Confidence drips from her every movement.

Ethan remains silent, scanning the house like a man searching for answers in the walls. But he finds none — only wealth and beauty.

He must make a decision quickly.
