Television edits of theatrical films are often clumsy. And the final shot of the computer in "Stand By Me", when shown on ABC in 1988, serves as one of the few visual examples I've seen of that. Very likely done to avoid any accusations of blasphemy. But it was "fixed" in a way that made it look like Gordie's word processor decided to add some whimsy to it's default font for no particular reason.

Starting in September, I'm going to scale back the number of uploads to 2 to 3 times per week. I still have a lot of tapes to go through, capture, edit and upload. But it might be better to space them out a bit.

While I'm on a weekend break from posting, I wanted to give a thanks to those of you who have been providing additional information and corrections in the comments to the commercial blocks I've been posting. My ability to gather background information for the video descriptions is fairly limited by time. So I will take any help I can get.
One of the goals of posting these old ad breaks is historical preservation. And providing as many dates and names as possible to go along with these clips helps to give context for those using these for research or projects.
Side-note: my secondary motivation is clearing my stacks of tapes out of storage. Once they're captured, I try to find them homes instead of tossing them in the bin. (They are notoriously difficult/expensive to properly recycle.) If you have a need for any of the original tapes for anything I posted, drop me a message. I can't promise I can accommodate every request (a stack of tapes have already gone to a good home, others were too damaged to salvage beyond one last play), I will do my best.

I'm having fun sharing all these found commercials. But I am going to limit uploads to weekdays so I have time to catch up on my other stuff. I already have blocks ready to go first thing Monday. Have a great weekend!
