In this video below, I am using the Yellow Cam on my Pearl Eliminators.


Most drummers just use the standard Black or Blue cams. But if you are stuck at a certain speed or your shins hurt, you need to try something else.


The Yellow Cam feels extremely light.


Here is why that helps:


When you learn the ankle technique, you want a pedal that moves easily with very small movements.


The Yellow Cam makes it much easier to start that motion. It does not fight back against your foot.


If you have these pedals, do not leave the extra parts in the box.

You might think you have a "weak foot." But actually, you might just be using the wrong pedal setting.

𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐈𝐬 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤

Most drummers overcomplicate double bass drumming.
They chase new drills, new pedals, new techniques.

But progress comes from doing less — not more.
Simplicity is king.

I only focus on two foot techniques: the flat foot and the ankle technique.
And the secret is this — each one trains just one muscle group.

If you struggle at slower tempos, around 100 to 150 BPM, focus on your hip flexors — that’s the flat foot technique.

If you struggle at faster tempos, you’ll need the ankle technique, and that means focusing on your calf muscle.

You don’t need hourlong practice sessions each day, and you don’t need to overwhelm yourself with multiple techniques.

Focus on one technique.
One muscle group at a time.

That’s how you make real progress — by removing everything that doesn’t move you forward.
