You know how sometimes you see someone who doesn’t have a big house or a fancy car…
but somehow, they still feel rich?

Not rich with money.
Rich with something better.

Let me tell you about a really special old man in Ecuador.

He is 73 years old, and every single day, he pushes a creaky wooden cart through the streets. Inside the cart are things people throw away—plastic bottles, cardboard, scraps. This is how he survives. It’s hard work. His back hurts. He doesn’t have much money at all.

But he is never alone.

Right there in the cart, sitting beside him, is his dog.
Her name is Muñeca Brava.

She’s not just a dog.
She’s his best friend.

One day, someone saw them and felt sad. The man looked poor, and the dog looked special. So he thought he could help by offering money.

“Ten dollars?”
The old man said no.

“Fifty dollars?”
Still no.

Then the offer went up to $100.
For a man with almost nothing, that’s a lot of money. It could mean food, medicine, or rest.

But the old man didn’t hesitate.

“Don’t even offer me two hundred,” he said.
“I won’t sell her.”

The man asked, “Why?”

The old man smiled and said something simple… and beautiful:

“Because she loves me.”

Being rich isn’t about having the most stuff.
