A Two-Day Master Workshop on Energy Laws, Policies and Standards commenced at our corporate office in Kolkata in the presence of our Chairman, Shri B. Sairam; Director (Marketing & HR โ Additional Charge), Shri Mukesh Choudhary; Director (Finance), Shri Mukesh Agrawal; Director (Technical), Shri Achyut Ghatak; Director (Business Development), Shri Asheesh Kumar and other senior executives.
Addressing the inaugural session, our Chairman, Shri B. Sairam, emphasised the importance of understanding the legal, policy, and regulatory framework governing Indiaโs power sector, particularly in the context of renewable energy and thermal power projects. He highlighted the significance of this knowledge as Coal India explores new business opportunities beyond its traditional coal mining.
Director (Business Development), Shri Asheesh Kumar, highlighted the relevance of the workshop, noting that a better understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and evolving policies would enable participants to plan and execute projects effectively. On the first day of the workshop, Shri Raj Singh Niranjan and Dr. Rajni Patel from the Dr. Gopal Energy Foundation shared their insights on various topics.
Our Chairman, Shri B. Sairam, met Shri Narendra Bhooshan, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India, in New Delhi.
Discussions were held on Environmental measures including Clearances for coal mining projects to meet the nationโs power requirements.
On the second day of his visit to our subsidiary, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), our Chairman, Shri B. Sairam, inspected operations at Kusmunda OCP.
Following the inspection, Chairman chaired a comprehensive review meeting, during which he outlined measures to enhance production and productivity to meet the nationโs growing energy needs. CMD, SECL, Shri Harish Duhan joined the review meeting virtually.Senior management of SECL were also present on the occasion.
Kusmunda OCP has produced over 15 MT so far in the current financial year. #CoalIndia

He also inspected Indiaโs first 21-cubic-metre electro-hydraulic face shovel deployed at the project from the operatorโs cabin.
Later, he chaired a review meeting with senior executives of Gevra OCP and Dipka OCP, emphasising the need to maintain uninterrupted production and supplies. He also reviewed future action plans. Senior management of SECL was present on the occasion.
Notably, Gevra OCP, Asiaโs largest coal mine, has produced over 19 MT in the current fiscal. #CoalIndia
As part of the Three-Month Preventive Vigilance Awareness Campaign, we organised an Essay Writing Competition and a Quiz Competition for the students of Jatragachhi Majherpara Free Primary School under the supervision of our CVO, Shri Brajesh Kumar Tripathy.
We organised a Knowledge Sharing Webinar on the topic โFrom Innovation to Impact: Understanding Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)โ. Our Director (Technical), Shri Achyut Ghatak, joined the session from our corporate office in Kolkata.
During the webinar, Prof. Dipankar Deb, IIT Mandi, shared his insights on Intellectual Property Rights fundamentals, patenting processes, technology transfer, industry collaboration, and research commercialisation.
Executives from our corporate office and subsidiaries, researchers and faculty members from IITs, NITs, CSIR Laboratories, CIL Centres of Excellence, and other Project Implementing Agencies associated with CIL-funded R&D initiatives also participated in the webinar.
As part of the three-month Preventive Vigilance Awareness Campaign, we conducted a series of competitions for the students of Sankalp Shristi Vidya Mandir, Jhargram District, West Bengal.
On the occasion, our CVO Shri Brajesh Kumar Tripathy interacted with the students and emphasized the importance of honesty, integrity, and ethical values. He also encouraged the students to uphold these principles and become responsible citizens.
