Update on the "misty turns into vaporeon" video being set as "Made for Kids"

The video is now "Made for Kids" AND "Age-Restricted" after putting swear words in the title and description. This means the comments are still turned off for the video.

What are your thoughts on this?

YouTube just set a video with swear words in the title as "Made for Kids"! 😱

Not very wholesome 100! 🤨


How did this happen, you may ask?

1. Get a YouTube video on your channel set to "Made for Kids" after "manual" review by YouTube.
2. Put swears in the title and description.
3. Submit an appeal to YouTube saying there's swears in the title and description.
4. Receive an email from YouTube one minute after submission that your video indeed is suitable for children.

YouTube in current year, everyone.
See if you can replicate the results! Uploading clips from children's shows gets you a higher chance of being auto-marked as "Made for Kids."

Rundown:
On May 9, 2020, I uploaded a video called "misty transforms into vaporeon" featuring an edited scene from the Pokemon anime.
On April 18, 2023, I receive a notification that it's been "manually reviewed" by YouTube and set to "Made for Kids".
On April 19, I appeal after putting swears in the title and description. It's deemed "Made for Kids" by YouTube.


Update: It was set to "age-restricted" later that night. Still shows it's "made for kids" even though it says the made for kids feature has been removed.

Hello all - I saw some people had questions and comments in the previous post I made, so I'll be answering them here.

About the Kevin Levin video, there's not much I can do now. Once an appeal is rejected, you can't appeal again. Thanks YouTube. I put swear words in the description, so we'll see if that does something.

Regarding the state of the channel, I probably won't be uploading on here again. There's too many eggs in one basket. I don't want to risk all the videos being lost if the channel gets three strikes.



This channel is meant to be a kind of video repository. I started uploading cause I got tired of searching for videos and not being able to find them. I believe other people can carry the torch.



I've also shifted my energy to my career, so that's what I have been and will continue to be doing.

Hello all - I come to you with bad news.

The "You have to treat a car like you treat a woman Kevin Levin Ben 10" video on this channel has been marked by YouTube as "Made For Kids." I tried to appeal the best I could today, but YouTube rejected it. You can see the appeal I made.

I'm not the only one this has been happening to. The YouTube Kids AI is running rampant, marking videos as "Made for Kids" indiscriminately.

If you have clips of cartoons or animated TV shows, watch out! If you have any tips for how this can be circumvented, please say so in the comments.
