#Vanderbilt just gave test-optional an expiration date. 👀 Beginning with students applying to enter Vanderbilt in fall 2029, SAT or ACT scores will be required. The university will remain test-optional for fall 2027 and 2028 entry.

And yes—the requirement applies to first-year and transfer applicants, including international and homeschooled students.

Vanderbilt says admissions will remain holistic and context-based. But after reviewing its test-optional policy, the university concluded that scores provide valuable information and are “useful predictors of collegiate academic success.”
