When I moved from India to the U.S., I thought I was "upgrading my life".
Better salary. Better country. Better everything.
I was earning ₹30 lakhs in India, and I thought earning $120K in the US would make me feel rich.
It didn’t.
Because money abroad doesn’t feel the same way.
When you earn in dollars, you also start spending in dollars - on things you never had to think about before.
Rent. Insurance. Groceries. Taxes.
But that’s not the real cost.
The real cost is the quiet shift that happens inside you.
When “success” stops being about comfort… and starts being about proving something.
When dinners with family are replaced by solo grocery runs.
When you have freedom, but miss familiarity.
I used to believe growth meant leaving home.
Now, I think growth is learning to feel at home anywhere.
Moving abroad doesn’t make you rich or poor - it just changes what you value.
Maybe you’ll earn more money.
