happy 2026 everyone! this marks 5 years since i uploaded my very first splatoon lore video, "A Profreshional's Guide to Salmonid Lore", which is kind of crazy to think about.
for my new years resolution, I want to be more active with this channel again. I also am hoping to hit 50k subs! We're at 49.5k right now, so I think this is going to happen pretty soon.

In the second half of 2025, Deltarune pretty much took over my brainspace, and my splatoon fixation went on the backburner. No joke, I've had splatoon as my main obsession since 2017, and Deltarune chapters 3+4 was the first thing that's ever pulled me away from it that hard. That is a solid *8 years* of Splatoon fixation, that my entire adult life. I honestly think that break from Splatoon was much needed for me.
However with Deltarune, while it inspires me artistically (it's gotten me drawing more than I have in several years) and I enjoy keeping up with the lore and theories, but I myself am not a crazy lore theorist with it like I am with Splatoon. I don't have plans to make Deltarune theory videos at all. So these past several months, I've kept finding myself like. "Damn. I miss being hugebrained and crazy about Splatoon."
Splatoon has been in a dead space when it comes to news recently, so I think that's contributed to me not rushing back into it. We did get Raiders announced of course, but we've heard basically nothing since then. I am positive that once Raiders gets closer to release I'll be crazier for Splatoon again, but I genuinely do have a desire to make more Splatoon videos before then. I have a couple ideas i'm hoping to get out in the first half of this year. so yes, I do have plans to upload things here in the near future that are *not* more spore creatures, so please look forward to that!
....ok well... I might upload a couple more spore creatures. please tolerate my wretched spore creatures in the meantime. i have hobbies too you know

Splatoonlore.ink is a website created by ‪@ardnin‬ that aims to archive information relating to Splatoon's world, story, and characters, all in a clean and accessible format. Every developer interview we've ever translated? It's here. Everything you need to know from any of the artbooks? Also here. You want a 3D viewer of all the Octo Expansion mem cakes? All the alterna logs with the in-game formatting completely recreated? with background music??? Yup, that's here too. There is even a search function, and it has been formatted for both desktop and mobile. It's hard to express how crazy of a resource this is.

Happy 10th anniversary to Splatoon, the game series that ruined my life!
....ruined my life but in the good way<3 ive met several of my closest friends, and have had so many experiences i wouldnt have otherwise had all because of this game. here's to many years more of squid insanity. squidsanity. what's your favorite splatoon memory?

looking back on these past 10 years, one of my favorite splatoon moments has got to be going to Haicalive Kyoto Mix in 2019. yup. i got to see the squid sisters and off the hook in person. i say im not crazy for the splatoon idols and yet. i was jumping to now or never. singing along to the gibberish. one of the most fun hours of my life. im sorry to flex on all the idol fans like this. *5 dozen idol fans surround me and start beating me with hammers*

[OBLIGATORY CHANNEL UPDATE] i wanted to have my next video done and out by the anniversary, but the script just kept getting longer. and longer. whoops. well the script is like 97% done and I started recording the audio today, so new video ACTUALLY coming soon i prommy. its a good topic.

happy 3rd anniversary to the greatest splatoon discovery of all time: jelfonzo's "FUCK YOU" shirt

this shirt led to a debate-heavy policy change on inkipedia, fans have recreated it irl and it's made appearances at LANs and official events, i got interviewed for a polygon article and a thomas game docs video because of it, and in the end, it stayed in the game for splatoon 3. incredible

short update on my end:
i moved states over a month ago and am feeling pretty settled. been chillin for the past few weeks. work on my next lore video is currently in progress!
Also for anyone following me on other platforms, I'm officially done using twitter for posting artwork and splatoon artbook translations. I've been gradually migrating my twitter operations to bluesky, and I also use tumblr for answering questions, as well as for making longer-form posts and analyses about splatoon lore.
Pokemon actually revived its official tumblr last week (wild), and I'm hoping the splatoon tumblr will do the same? please??? Also with the big N already dropping news exclusively to the 'nintendo today' app, it looks like a sign that they too will move further away from twitter. still not calling it X btw.
