If you can rise, bring someone with you." – Charlotte Maxeke 💜.

Charlotte Maxeke didn't just speak these words—she lived them.

In 1901, she became the first Black South African woman to earn a university degree, graduating with a Bachelor of Science from Wilberforce University in the United States. On returning home, she dedicated her life to serving others through education, social work, and activism.

In 1918, she founded the Bantu Women's League—the first formal organisation for Black women in South Africa and the forerunner of the ANC Women's League. She campaigned for women's rights, improved access to education, and fought against the pass laws that restricted the freedom of Black women.

Her legacy reminds us that true leadership isn't measured by how high we climb, but by how many people we empower along the way.

This Women's Month, let's honour Charlotte Maxeke by opening doors, sharing opportunities, and lifting others as we rise.
