A very sad and disturbing trend these days on social media, is young Indian mothers putting up posts like "I have a Masters degree but I am cleaning windows in my house, while my baby is sleeping"
How has motherhood become so devalued in our "sanskaari" society that women feel useless unless they are earning money? Motherhood supported by a financially stable partner, is life's biggest blessing.
An educated woman is the best person to nurture the future of the nation. And yet mothers are being made to feel that without paycheck you are nothing. Because today everyone's value is only as per their bank balance.
There are also many women out there who have to choose between child and survival, every day. Who have been abandoned or chosen to move out of terrible partnerships. Who are daily dealing with highly abusive environments, living only to protect their children. Majority pregnant women are now choosing to keep attending their stressful workplaces till delivery, then return within three months, because they feel guilty to take rest or are fearful of losing jobs.
Society will judge these women, but not lift a finger to support. And if support is given, then you will be reminded about it at every opportunity.
I remember my own 16-hour days outside home, bank account and mental health completely wiped out after a bad marriage, fearing every minute about a future for my son but not having any energy to even enjoy his smiles and chatter, after coming home at night.
It is sickening that as a society we have forgotten that family is created to nurture the future citizens of the country and that the mother is the centre of the family unit. A mother must be protected and supported at all costs. But irresponsible family structures, even more irresponsibly brought up men who don't know what having children or fatherhood means, regressive patriarchy which results in militant feminist ideology and relentless consumerism, has made everything about survival.
And then we wonder why there are so many issues in the world. Why so many people are struggling to deal with life. Why so many people need to be "fixed".
When the person who nurtures you in the womb and outside of it, lives in constant fear, frustration or suppression, what else can be expected?
To build a great nation, we must raise great citizens. To raise great citizens we must nurture them. To nurture them, we must first nurture the caregivers, show them how valuable their work is, how important and how indispensable.
Her neck hurts, her arm is numb, her body is sore from holding the same position for hours… But she won’t move. The baby finally settled, and that matters more than her comfort.
She listens closely to every tiny sound, every sigh, every flutter of breath. She’s on alert even with her eyes shut. That’s not rest. That’s watching over love.
This isn’t just tonight. This is every night.
She gives up sleep to make sure her child gets theirs. She ignores the pain, the exhaustion, the urge to cry...just to keep the peace in that small bundle in her arms.
This is motherhood. Unseen. Unheard. Uncelebrated.
But powerful. So incredibly powerful.
To every mother losing sleep, You’re not alone. You’re not invisible. You're doing the most sacred work of all.
“Waking Up Between 2–4 AM? It’s Not Insomnia — It’s a Message From Your Body!” 🌙 (And Ayurveda Decodes It Perfectly 👇)
You sleep early, thinking — “Finally, I’ll wake up fresh tomorrow.” But like clockwork, your eyes open between 2 to 4 AM. You scroll for a while, fall asleep again, and wake up feeling dull, heavy, and moody all day.
This is Vata Time — when your nervous system, hormones, and emotional residue become most active. If you wake during this window, your body isn’t broken — it’s communicating.
It might be saying: 💭 “I haven’t finished digesting — your dinner or your day.” 💨 “Too much movement, too little grounding.” 🔥 “My Agni (digestive fire) is flickering — not steady.” 💤 “I’m tired, but not settled.”
⚡ Why You’re Waking Up Even After Sleeping Early
1. Incomplete Digestion (Ajirna) If your dinner is heavy, late, or poorly digested, toxins (Ama) rise in the night — disturbing both gut and mind.
2. Unprocessed Emotions Worrying before bed, overthinking, or emotional overload keeps your Vata and Manas (mind) hyperactive.
3. Dryness & Lightness of Vata When Vata rises, the mind becomes light and easily disturbed — even a small sound or thought wakes you up.
4. Gadget Overuse Before Bed 📱 Blue light and overstimulation dry up Ojas (vital energy), mimicking caffeine for your nerves.
5. Weak Evening Routine (Ratri Charya) No grounding ritual before sleep = no signal to your brain that it’s time to rest.
6. Hormonal & Cortisol Imbalance 🧠 High stress hormones at night = alert mode even during rest hours.
🌙 How to Break the 2–4 AM Wake-Up Cycle
💧 Oil your feet and scalp before bed – Abhyanga with sesame oil calms Vata instantly. 🥣 Eat light, warm, early dinners (by 7:30 PM). Avoid curd, leftovers, and raw salads at night. 🔥 Sip warm cumin or ajwain water after dinner to support digestion. 🧘♀️ Journal or pray before bed — release mental residue. 📵 Switch off screens 60 minutes before sleep. 🕯️ Try “Nasya” (2 drops of warm ghee in each nostril) to soothe the nervous system. 🪶 Sleep by 10 PM — you’ll harness Kapha’s grounding energy for deep rest.
✨ Remember
Ayurveda doesn’t “knock you out” — it resets your rhythm. When digestion, emotions, and Vata are calm, sleep flows naturally — not forced.

Sounds familiar? 😴
Let’s understand what’s really happening.

"She Ate ‘Clean’ for 7 Years… Yet Her Gut Was Destroyed.
The Real Reason?
She Lost a Ritual Her Grandmother Never Missed !!!
When Meera, a 32-year-old software engineer, booked an online consultation with me, she looked defeated.
“Doctor… I eat healthy. I do everything Instagram tells me. Then why do I feel so sick?”
Her list of complaints was long:
- Bloating after every meal
- Brain fog so bad she couldn’t focus
- Constant inflammation in joints
- Fatigue that felt like dragging a stone inside her chest
She showed me her food diary—clean, high-protein, macro-tracked meals.
Nothing “wrong.”
And yet everything was wrong.
**THE REAL PROBLEM WASN’T WHAT SHE ATE.
It was how she ate.**
As she spoke, I noticed something.
Her meals looked perfect on the app…
but there was zero ritual, zero pause, zero connection with her food.
She ate while:
- replying to emails
- scrolling Instagram
- attending Zoom meetings
- fighting deadlines
Her nervous system was always in fight-or-flight mode 😮💨
I gently asked her,
“Do you say a small prayer or pause before your meals? Anything at all?”
She laughed.
“Doctor, who has time for all that? My grandmother used to do it. I thought it was superstition.”
That one sentence told me everything.
What Her Grandmother Did Daily… Neuroscience Now Calls ‘Vagal Activation’.
Those rituals Meera dismissed as “old-fashioned”…
were actually biological hacks her body was starving for.
Her grandmother:
- Lit a lamp before meals
- Touched the food with gratitude
- Took a moment of silence
- Never ate in a rush
- Chewed the food thoroughly
Meera had deleted all those practices…
and replaced them with:
- Hurry
- Stress
- Screens
- Anxiety
Her gut didn’t need probiotics.
It needed PAUSE.
THE AYURVEDIC PLAN WE STARTED
Her online consultation treatment was simple but profound:
1. 30-second pause before meals
Let the brain catch up to the stomach.
2. Light a candle before eating
Signal safety → activate parasympathetic system.
3. Eat without screens
No emails. No reels.
4. Warm, easy-digest meals based on her agni
Simple ghee, cumin, ginger, and warm water routine.
5. Gratitude ritual
A small “thank you” to her food.
Not religious—physiological.
6. Ayurvedic medicines
To repair her inflamed gut lining and calm vata.
Within 12 days, Meera sent me a message:
> “Doctor… The bloating is 80% gone.
My mind feels clear.
I feel calm for the first time in years.
I didn’t change my diet.
I changed HOW I eat.”
THE TRUTH THAT SHOCKED HER
Her grandmother wasn’t being orthodox or superstitious.
She was doing:
- Vagal regulation
- Cortisol reduction
- Enzyme activation
- Inflammation control
Long before science had words for it.
🌿THE REAL TAKEAWAY
Meera didn’t heal because she ate “clean.”
She healed because she brought sacredness back into her meals.
And maybe… so should we?
