Did you know that when the tide is out, the River Thames is the largest open air archaeological site in the UK! My name is Nicola White. I am a licensed Thames Mudlark. Welcome to my YouTube channel where you will discover the magic of mudlarking along the Thames and the stories behind the objects which I find. The Thames is a tidal river. Each time the tide goes out it leaves us historical objects to find and research and you never know what you will find. John Burns, the 19th century MP described the River Thames as Liquid History. I like to think of it as giant liquid storybook full of fascinating stories from the past about people and places. Even finding a small button can take you on a wonderful journey. Come along with me on a voyage of discovery like no other!!

Hello! I hope you're having a lovely weekend. There won't be a video from me today but I will be back next week with more mudlarking adventures on the River Thames! Until then, I'm sharing with you some photos I took earlier this week when visiting one of my favourite spots on the Thames Estuary out at Cliffe in Kent which is always a real balm for the soul.The abandoned buildings are old explosives factories from the 19th century and the old jetty in the photos used to serve them. Each time I visit there is less and less of the jetty! Have an excellent week and I'm sending you much love from here in London. Nicola xxxx

Hi Everyone! On Saturday I popped down to the Thames for a lark and in just two hours I collected an astonishing collection of artefacts from London's past! But also, in this video are a collection of faces hidden in the foreshore. How many can you see? Lastly, there is a new "hype" button that YouTube has introduced. Apparently if you press the hype button (which is free by the way), the video will be shared further out in the YouTube galaxy to reach audiences new!!
