The Full Map: Five ways people come back to themselves.
All month I've been sharing parts of this framework. Today you get the whole picture.
The Five States of Rest are five phases of human experience. Each one is mapped to a layer of the body. Together, they map the way back to yourself. They are not labels, they are seasons.

I would like to introduce you to... the Rooted One.
She's not a personality type - she's a phase, a season, a state your body goes into when it's been holding too much for too long.
The Rooted One doesn't feel lazy, she feels disconnected from herself. Sleep doesn't fully restore her. She's exhausted but wired. She keeps trying to think her way out of something that actually lives in the body.

The thing nobody tells you about rest.
Rest isn't something you do when everything else is done, it's something your nervous system has to be taught to trust.
This is why you can have a full night of sleep and wake up exhausted.
Why a weekend off leaves you feeling more behind.
Why sitting still actually makes some people more anxious, not less.
Your body isn't being difficult. It's been doing its job - keeping you safe, keeping you moving, keeping you functional. And now it doesn't know how to stop.
The practice I've built my whole work around, yoga nidra, is specifically designed for this. Not to force the body to relax. But to give it the conditions where it remembers that it can.
π Try this right now: exhale slowly through your mouth, like you're breathing on cold glass. Do it twice.
That's your vagus nerve getting a nudge.
That's your body being reminded: you're safe right now.
