Empyreon Academy

Hey everyone!
If you’ve ever wondered what really goes on behind my videos and articles—the ideas, the struggles, and even the unpolished moments—Patreon is where I share it all.

Over there, I post unedited, unfiltered behind-the-scenes videos where I talk openly about the creative process: what inspires me, what challenges me, and sometimes even the darker corners of that journey. I also share highlights from philosophy conferences, personal stories from my PhD research, and reflections that don’t always make it into the final cut.

Think of it as stepping into my creative workshop—you’ll see the raw thoughts, the sparks before they become full projects, and the deeper meaning behind the work I share publicly.

If you’re curious about philosophy, literature, or just the human side of creativity, I’d love for you to join me there. It’s a space where I can connect with you more directly, and together we explore not just ideas, but what it really means to live with them.

And to give you a taste: the first four Patreon episodes include

1. The story of Empyreon Academy and its roots in Dante’s Divine Comedy,
2. A report from the Heidegger Society conference on nihilism in Germany,
3. A deep dive into my PhD research on Kant and causality, and
4. A reading of Dostoevsky’s “The Dream of a Ridiculous Man” and what it reveals about finding meaning again.

In this episode, I want to explore a question central to our existence: What does it mean to be a man?

To help us find an answer, we’ll look to two profound authors and their timeless insights:

Elio Vittorini's Men and Not Men — a reflection on how violence erodes humanity, even for the oppressed.

Fyodor Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov — an exploration of the problem of evil and the impossible dilemma of human suffering.

The Example of Father Zosima — the true answer to Dostoevsky's dilemma, found in a life of radical responsibility and forgiveness.

These ideas are as relevant today as ever, especially as we witness the ongoing cycles of violence in the world. They challenge us to reflect on our own humanity and our capacity for good.

Join me as we explore why these works matter, how they speak to our deepest questions, and why they remain essential today.

One of the greatest texts by Charles Dickens is Oliver Twist: the story of a child who faces the pain and struggles of life, yet whose heart always remains pure and faithful. Here you will find one of the most touching moments of the story. Enjoy!
P.S. It’s impossible not to shed a tear…

„To think? Abstract? Run for your lives!“

This is how Hegel dramatically begins an essay of his titled: wer denk abstrakt? Or in English „who thinks abstractly?“

It’s an essay wrote during the period of his lectures in Berlin, towards the end of his career, where Hegel states clearly his aversion to the abstract thinking.

Hegel, one of the philosophers commonly considered as the most abstract thinker of the whole human history, presents himself as an enemy of abstract thinking.

How is this possible? What does abstract for Hegel mean and why is he so commonly misunderstood?
