Welcome to your daily dose of double bass 🎻

With over 500 videos and new music added every week, this channel is a place to spend time with the sound of the double bass.

You will find listening spaces for calm, haunting, timeless, and seasonal music, along with many playlists to explore. I believe the double bass can play it all, and I play music ranging from Medieval, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, modern and contemporary, rock, jazz, popular, Broadway, TV and film, and more.

I began playing the double bass as a child and returned to it in 2024. Today I enjoy playing the double bass for you here on YouTube.

🎻💖 Welcome to BassLove

If you have ever wondered what comes after BassOWeen, BassGiving, and BassJul, it is BassLove:

www.youtube.com/playlist?list...

BassLove is my Valentine’s Day tribute to love songs on bass, and it starts early because there are so many beautiful songs to play.

BassLove is a growing playlist of love songs performed on double bass and electric bass. Here you will find romantic standards, pop ballads, opera arias, and music from film and television, all reimagined one melody at a time. Some pieces are tender and reflective, others playful, flirtatious, full of longing, or quietly devoted.

And yes, pug love also shows up, with a few songs proudly pugified and sung to Jackson, because pug love is true love, complete with fur, snorts, and very serious eye contact.

New pieces are added throughout the year, with special focus in January and February.

Thank you for listening, one low note at a time. 💖🎻

💖 If you enjoy this series, tap Save on the playlist so it stays in your Library.

Happy Birthday to Beethoven… whenever that actually was! 🎂🎶

He was baptized on December 17 and was probably born the day before, but no one knows for sure.

So here’s a cheer for Team Beethoven today:
“Symphonies 1, 2, 4, 8, which do you appreciate?”

Cast your vote below. I’m curious which one is your favorite.

Let’s see what our community thinks.

🎻 One year ago, I returned to the double bass and began sharing short videos here on YouTube.

I did not know what would happen. I only knew I wanted to play again and share Christmas carols with the world.

This December marks one full year, and I am starting a small series called One Year Later, revisiting some of the Christmas carols I shared when I first came back to the instrument.

Here is the very first video I posted, Silent Night:

Same music, same bass, one year of living and learning in between.

Thank you for being here and for listening.

More holiday music coming all December, one low note at a time. ❤️💚

🎻 My 2025 YouTube Recap made me smile today.

It turns out the sides of me that show up most are the ones I care about most, too.
Musical, tech-curious, pug-loving, and always learning.

YouTube says I’m “Most likely to surprise everyone with awesome bass playing and love for pugs,” and you know what… fair. 🐾🎶

Thank you for supporting this musical, sometimes nerdy, always sincere corner of the internet. One low note at a time. 💚❤️

Jackson put his paw down and declared it’s time for BassJul. He serves as my certified pug advisor, my very own CPA. 🎅🐶

🎄✨ BassJul 2025 starts today!

I just uploaded a new video, Nutcracker on Bass, Overture to Sugar Plum Fairy 🎻, to begin this year’s #BassJul on my channel. It is a short holiday suite with Overture, March, Cradle Song, Pas de Deux, and the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy arranged for double bass.

You can watch it here:

All through December I'll be sharing holiday music on bass, from carols and movie favorites to a one year later series revisiting the very first pieces I recorded for YouTube in 2024 after returning to the double bass. I’m glad to have you here for the season and beyond, one low note at a time. 💚❤️

It’s time to get festive!

Thank you to everyone who voted in my recent poll. Most of you said “Yaasss,” which gave me the perfect excuse to sit down with Jackson and share my favorite Shakespeare sonnet along with a few thoughts about Shakespeare and music.

🍂✨ A tiny Thanksgiving season update from my corner of the world. My hands and arms have decided they need a little holiday from the double bass so they can rest and recharge. Everything feels a little slower and softer this time of year, so I am listening to my body and letting it rest.

🎄 I plan to return in December with Christmas music on the bass, so please leave a comment with the Christmas pieces you would like to hear.

While I rest, would you like to join me for some cozy music talk 🌙🎶 including my very opinionated Beethoven symphony rankings and a few random musical thoughts that never quite fit into a performance video? 📽️ Cast your vote in this poll.

🧡 I am feeling very thankful for all of you. Your support has brought my channel to 916 subscribers and you are carrying me closer to my dream of reaching 1000. Thank you for being here and for cheering me on.

🦃 When I count my blessings on Thanksgiving, I will count all of you while keeping one eye on the corn pudding.
