Holy smokes, 25,000 subscribers! Thank you everyone, it’s absolutely unreal.
If you're curious, here's how it all started...
I originally thought about the concept for this channel back in 2017. I was working a corporate 9-5 job as a mobile app designer, but I started falling in love with YouTube and filmmaking. I had this crazy dream of creating a LEGO YouTube channel the way I saw it with my own eyes. I appreciated the design work put into these sets and I wanted to showcase it. A lot of other people my age had no idea how cool of a hobby this is.
So in December of 2020, I created this channel (wow, it's been 5 years!) But...I didn't upload anything. Not for quite a while...I spent the next two years studying the craft feverishly on nights and weekends to learn as much as I could about creating videos. I didn’t know how to do anything…not even editing!
Then in 2022, I made a very risky choice (with a little bit of savings) to quit my design career on my own terms and become a full time LEGO YouTuber. Still a crazy decision to this day. Not highly recommended lol
You see, LEGO means a lot to me, as it does with many of you. I grew up building it with my dad, who I’m very close to. Probably started building when I was 3 or 4 years old. As I grew up a bit, it was my favorite thing to do, outside of playing video games and biking around the neighborhood with friends.
I started to drift away from LEGO a little during high school and college. I’d still check out some things in the LEGO aisle at stores, so the interest never fully went away.
When I could finally afford to buy things after of college, my love for this hobby was rekindled in 2008 when I randomly stopped by the LEGO Store at the mall during Christmas shopping. That’s when I saw the Green Grocer modular building! I instantly fell in love and just had to have it. I still have that set to this day. I really need to rebuild that thing...
Then I jumped head first into this hobby again in late 2015 when Star Wars Episode VII was released. I was taking time off work around that time and picked up a bunch of Star Wars sets while browsing the LEGO section at Target. I rushed home, watched all of the Star Wars movies and documentaries while building everything, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
So what's it like to be a LEGO YouTuber and how have these few years been?
Well, as a self employed creator that works on his own...it has many ups and downs. It’s been an absolute rollercoaster. I have to wear like 1,000 hats every day. But let me tell you, it's a lot of fun and very fulfilling. I do get a lot of joy from what I do.
The scary thing is that you don't know how anything is going to go. The "YouTube Algorithm", which I'm sure you've heard others talk about, it’s a beast. It's incredibly unpredictable. One month can go well and the next can be a disaster...and you have no idea why.
The amount of work that goes into doing this is a monumental undertaking. It takes a lot out of me physically, mentally, and emotionally. I'm sure other YouTubers can relate, so please be kind to my YouTuber friends out there. We're all trying to make it on this unpredictable platform. I have so much respect for them (and am a fan myself). Keep pushing through, if you're reading this.
As busy as I am, I even started a second channel this year: Bricked to Perfection Builds. That’s a passion project of mine and closer to the original vision I had back in 2017. I'm glad that there's an appreciation for my work over there. I pour a lot into it. It's so much fun to see it grow and I look forward to posting more!
This channel is finally starting to get into its own little groove, which I'm grateful for. It's nice finding some sanity in my day to day, for a change lol
I never thought this would be what I spend my time on every week. It’s pretty surreal! I’ve also never worked so hard in my life (a little too much, if you ask my wife and friends).
I just want to bring you the best videos that I can make. I still have so much to learn and a lot of skills to grow. It’s pretty challenging doing it all on my own, but I enjoy it so much. I wouldn’t do it any other way.
I’m glad I get to share this hobby with all of you out there and I look forward to many more years of this. If you ask me, this is still the beginning of the journey. I’ll be starting my 4th year in April, so I guess I'm approaching my senior year? I suppose that's one way to look at it.
Thank you so much for checking out my work, supporting me, encouraging me through the tough times, and celebrating the good times! It really does mean the world to me and I’ll never forget it. I do see and appreciate your comments 🙂
Hey everyone, I've been battling vertigo/dizziness for almost a month now and it looks like I have another 4-6 weeks for recovery.
The good news is that we've ruled out anything permanent or serious. It's just uncomfortable and I'm pretty limited in what I can and can't do. When I feel up to it, I'll try to produce videos on this channel by chipping away at it slowly.
I'll get back to regularly released videos once I'm back to 100% in the coming weeks. Very much looking forward to it!
20,000 subscribers!? Wow, thank you SO much to everyone tuning into the channel! When I quit my design career 2+ years ago, I didn't know what this would turn into...
I truly hope you're enjoying the content. Plenty more on the way, I'm finally getting into a good groove 🙂
Been working hard to optimize everything and bring you stuff quicker without sacrificing quality. And builds/reviews are back and here to stay!
Fan designer videos continue to be a staple, so please show them some support when you can.
So glad we can share this hobby. Back to the studio!
Both are Insider Early Access, which is a free rewards type of program from LEGO. Otherwise you gotta wait a few days to pick them up.
The modular looks pretty incredible! This would be a great time to jump into modulars if you're even mildly interested. I'll be picking one up to review on the channel.
The Blacktron Renegade is mostly for those that have nostalgia with the series, but it does have some cool interactive features. I'm holding off myself, but may pick it up down the road.
Lots of other sets are released today, so best of luck grabbing these if you're a fan! Site will probably be hammered pretty hard during the launch hours.
Hope you have a Happy New Year! 🎉
Note: If you purchase anything from the site with these affiliate links, it'll help the channel 🙂
It's a pretty awesome set, but the lightsaber is probably very limited and may sell out quickly. You also need to buy the Desert Skiff separately to complete this scene.
Best of luck grabbing these if you're a fan!

How important is a LEGO reviewer's opinion on a set's value (i.e. whether or not it's worth it based on price)?
