16 Bit Review

Today I wanted to announce that the 16 Bit Store is back open, thanks again to the Canada Post Strike. While we were off we've put our heads together and made some big changes to make production easier for us, and to try and bring costs down for you.

Biggest Change. We have developed a 3D Printable Screw. This was a pain and a half in FreeCAD. But the end result is that we can have all items 100% 3D printed. We're not getting rid of our Metal Fasteners. But we now offer plastic screws for all items on the store at a reduced cost.

However while making the plastic screws. I've also developed a new Virtual Boy Tripod Kit. It's smaller, it's lighter, it's cheaper, and since it doesn't use a rubber band it's more reliable than the original. I've called it the V2 and it's available now!

For a less noticeable change. With the exception of our Stylus we are moving away from PLA to PETG for all our items. We've been using PETG for our larger items for a while now and found it improved the durability and thanks to the dry boxes we have, print-ability. of our items.

* Update 06-29-2025 *

You know how they say, best laid plans will often go awry. Well, I had a few video pre-recorded before I moved. I even had parts of it edited. And then this weekend, when I finally had to motivation to try and work it in. My editing PC wouldn't turn on.

Turns out it was a dead PSU. Lucky me. Unlucky me, my SSD with my projects on it turned funny. While I didn't loose the raw footage. I did loose the work I did up to this point. And while I could try to rebuild it. I'm probably going to debate if I should.

The two video for those who were wondering. Was my adventure into eBook ownership... or rather the lack thereof. It irritated me back then, that I could loose access of a book I purchased from Google Play. So I explored the concept of why it was legal for them to do, and "suggested" ways around it. Conclusion my conclusion was Adobe Digital Editions.

The other video was a long shot. But was about using my iPad as a Laptop. However the trip in question when I tried to use it as one, was 2 years ago now. So that's not happening any more.

I kind of want to redo or maybe look into the book ownership video again. But with just how much effort it is to do any videos. I'll probably shelve it again until I can do the whole thing in one go.

With the recent #CUPW decision to do a Overtime Ban strike, we have decided to reopen 16 Bit Store. While delivery times may be delayed, they will not be held like last time. We may close the store if this changes to a full strike.

I love spending time on a video idea to not have it work out. Oh well. The idea was to see if I could revive some of my older laptops with Linux. However with the machines I tried it with. I was lucky to get a word processor to work, despite XP, 7, and 10 running games fine on the hardware.

16 Bit Store & Canada Post Strike 2025 Update

TL:DR - We are extending our 15% off mothers day sale until next Tuesday with the STRIKESALE25 promotion. Next Wednesday (May 14th 2025) we are moving our shipping provider to Purolator and be updating the Shipping prices accordingly.

So a quick update. This week we are having a 15% off mother day sale on all items on 16 Bit Store. However with the looming Canada Post strike, which is not official yet, we are preparing to avoid shutting down the store like we did with the last strike.

So with STRIKESALE25 we are extending our 15% discount until Tuesday May 13th. After which we will be moving to Purolator for our shipping provider. This will significantly increase the cost for shipping across eBay and Etsy. However it will ensure that orders will be delivered if a strike occurs. I will remind everyone that we do offer combined shipping on all orders, so 1 price for as many items as you wish on the store (on sale or otherwise).

Once we get a conformation that the Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers have hopefully agreed upon new terms we will return shipping prices and resume shipping with Canada Post.

Until then we apologize for this inconvenience and we are hopeful that negotiations are successful!

16 Bit Review

**UPDATE 03-09-2025**

So, while last year I was able to do the viewer special, I had plans for 3 additional videos. 1 Video Game, 2 E-Reader.

Due to the changes from last year, the time I can spend making videos has been reduced dramatically. I do want to finish Series 9 before I start Series 10, though I will not be holding myself to any timelines.

The plan for this channel and my other channels is to do videos when I can, and upload them what I have time.

I will announce what I am planning on doing for series 10 when it's more than a folder filled with scripts on my laptop. But until then please look forward to the last of series 9 soon.
