Let Babylon Burn

Some of you have noticed my face appearing in the profile pictures. I’m Robert, the pale Norwegian behind Let Babylon Burn.

When I started, I chose an avatar that I thought suited the music and didn’t think much further than that. I’ve never been comfortable in the spotlight, and letting an image represent the project felt easier. But going forward, you’ll be seeing more of me. I’m still getting used to that myself. 😄

I never planned for any of this. More than a year later, the music is still appearing in charts around the world. Even today, my albums are at #5 in Turkey, #6 in Switzerland and #9 in Norway on the reggae album charts. I’m honestly still flabbergasted.

Your support has also given me the possibility to help others. I regularly donate to an orphanage and other causes I care about, choosing to give directly to the people and places I’m trying to help. Not donating true organizations. Being able to do that through something I created means a great deal to me.

And then there are your messages. Thank you for listening, commenting, sharing my music, and sharing parts of your own lives with me. Your thoughts, your struggles, the things a song helped you put into words. I know some of those things aren’t easy to tell anyone.

I didn’t expect this much kindness and openness from people I’ve never met. Sometimes I read your comments and genuinely don’t know how to answer in a way that does them justice.

So, from the bottom of my heart: thank you. For giving the music a place in your lives, and for making me feel welcome enough to show a little more of myself.

LET BABYLON BURN is a registered trademark in Norway. This name represents years of work. It is not yours to hijack.

I have a team handling these cases. We document the evidence, report unauthorised releases, pursue takedowns, and escalate through legal channels where appropriate. We have already had releases removed. We will keep going.

Slowing a recording down, speeding it up, changing its title, or hiding behind another profile does not give you my permission. Wherever you operate, do not mistake distance for protection.

If you think I’ll get tired and let you get away with it, you’ve badly misjudged me. I have no sympathy for people deliberately taking someone else’s work and collecting the money.

I give most of what I earn away to an orphanage anyway. This music supports more than just me. So if you’re knowingly stealing it and pocketing the proceeds—kindly go fiddle yourself in whatever imaginary key you haven’t stolen yet.
