THE MAN BEHIND LET BABYLON BURN
For a long time I let the music speak for itself.
That was intentional.
Lately I've seen more and more people calling Let Babylon Burn "AI slop."
If that's your opinion, you're entitled to it.
But before you reduce years of work to two words, here's the truth.
Yes, I use AI.
No, I don't depend on it.
My process has always been mix of ai and me.
The ideas, the stories, the emotions, the lyrics, the direction, the countless rewrites, the production decisions... that's me.
AI is a tool.
Just like a camera doesn't make someone a photographer, and Photoshop doesn't make someone an artist.
The person behind the tool still matters.
For years I worked as a first responder in the ambulance service.
I've seen people take their first breath.
I've watched others take their last.
I've comforted families on the worst day of their lives.
I've witnessed addiction, heartbreak, violence, courage, sacrifice, and hope.
You don't walk away from twenty years of that unchanged.
Those experiences became my songs.
Not because I wanted to be famous.
Not because I wanted money.
Because after twenty years of trying to save lives with an ambulance, I found another way to reach people.
Music.
If you've ever found comfort in one of my songs...
If you've cried...
If you've decided to keep fighting because of a lyric...
Then that's worth more to me than any chart position or royalty statement.
People also ask why I stayed anonymous.
Simple.
The name Let Babylon Burn says enough.
It challenges people.
It questions things.
And over the last year I've received death threats, attempts to intimidate me, and more hatred than I ever imagined music could generate.
I'm Norwegian.
People who know Norway know how open public records are.
Finding someone's name or address isn't exactly difficult if that's your goal.
The difference is...
I don't live my life looking over my shoulder.
I'm not going to hide because anonymous people on the internet think fear should win.
So...
This is me.
Not because I owe anyone an explanation.
But because I wanted to thank the people who believed in the music before they knew the face.
To every independent artist reading this...
Use whatever tools help you create.
A guitar.
A piano.
A notebook.
A microphone.
AI.
None of those tools replace imagination.
None of them replace honesty.
None of them replace having something worth saying.
And one more thing...
I see too many people blaming AI because their music isn't getting heard.
No.
Bad music existed long before AI.
If people aren't listening, don't automatically blame AI, Spotify, YouTube, the algorithm, or the industry.
Look in the mirror first.
Ask yourself the hardest question an artist can ask:
"Would I honestly play this if it wasn't mine?"
If the answer is no...
Write another song.
Become a better songwriter.
Become a better storyteller.
Become undeniable.
The gaming community has had the best advice for years.
"Get good".
Nobody owes me an audience.
Nobody owes you one either.
We earn every listener.
One song at a time.
As for my own work...
My artist name is trademarked.
My songs are registered from the moment they're are released.
I defend my work because every creator deserves to own what they create.
Respect other artists.
Create your own path.
Build something you're proud of.
Don't copy someone else's journey.
The world doesn't need another version of somebody else.
It needs the best version of you.
Whether my music is made with a guitar, a piano, a microphone, or modern technology...
The heartbeat behind it has always been human.
Thank you to every single person who has listened, shared a song, left a comment, or found a little piece of themselves in the music.
You remind me why I started.
See you in the next song.
— Robert Lancaster

Sometimes a song isn't just a song.
Sometimes it's a mirror.
I'm curious...
**What do you think this song is really about?**
Who is the little yellow bird?
What does the shiny stone represent?
And what do you think the ending means?
There are no right or wrong answers. I'd genuinely love to hear how you interpret it before I reveal what inspired me to write it.

Let Babylon Burn
Sometimes the most beautiful moments aren't the big ones.
They're the ones we almost miss.
A stranger smiling.
A bird crossing the evening sky.
A melody that finds you when you didn't know you needed it.
I made something special inspired by my new song "Notice With Me," and I decided to share it only on Instagram.
If you'd like to see it, come join me there. ❤️
