For anyone who grew up in the 1970s, it’s hard to think of Superman without thinking of him. When Superman arrived in 1978, Christopher Reeve simply became the character. The glasses, the smile, the quiet Clark Kent, and then that moment when he became Superman — it was unforgettable.
There was something so genuine about his performance. He made Clark Kent funny and lovable, while his Superman had the strength and presence we imagined from the comics.
For a whole generation, Christopher Reeve was Superman. And no matter how many versions of the character have come since, there will always be something special about the man who first made so many of us look up at the sky and believe.

On this day in 1970, Tora! Tora! Tora! brought the events surrounding the attack on Pearl Harbor to the big screen on an epic scale.
What made the movie so fascinating was the way it told the story from both the American and Japanese perspectives, showing the decisions, warnings, confusion, and military planning that led up to December 7, 1941.
With its huge production, detailed recreations, and spectacular battle sequences, Tora! Tora! Tora! remains one of the most memorable war films of the 1970s. ✈️🔥
And that title? “Tora! Tora! Tora!” was the Japanese code message signaling that surprise had been achieved.
