Continuing the musical exploration into Joni's jazz-inflected sounds, Archives - Volume 4: The Asylum Years (1976-1980) features unreleased studio sessions and alt versions of hit tracks from the groundbreaking albums Hejira, Don Juan's Reckless Daughter, Mingus and various tour dates from the late 1970’s, coupled with rare photos from the era that serve as cover artwork for each disc in the set and unpublished images that grace the pages of the accompanying booklet.
Releasing as 6CD and Digital sets, there is also a 4LP “Highlights” package that whittles down the larger offering into Joni’s favorites from the set.
