Hi everyone! Wanted to give you all an update because it's been a while since the last one. The main topic of this update will be about Paregui, and the future of this channel. Since this is a long one I’ve marked each section accordingly.

Before I begin I wanna give my heart out to all of you still watching, listening or buying whatever I've got going on, new fan or old, whatever it is your continued support means the world to me- so sincerely, thank you.

PAREGUI

When Paregui started out it was a passion project. I was excited to try something new, and exercise myself creatively and technically. The idea first came up only a few months after ONE was finished in 2022, so by the time I had finished the first 4 parts this was something I had been chewing on for almost 3 years. During nearly that whole time I was energized and passionate about the project, and was absolutely confident that this was something that I would have no problems finishing to completion.

Hopefully you're picking up the subtext. Not long after I'd finished parts 1-4 I very quickly and suddenly lost a great deal of passion for the project. My thoughts on this are really complicated and I can't do them justice in a public community post, but I think it essentially boiled down to really intense feelings of expectation and obligation. Like, "unless this affects people as much as ONE did, I will have failed" type mindset; which is in no way a healthy mindset to have with your art, but it was an undeniable force behind its production that eventually reared its ugly head. It goes without saying, but a fear of failure (to yourself or others) is not an adequate source of motivation. More on that in the next section.

Now, 5 months out from the last part's release, virtually zero progress has been made towards finishing Paregui, and I can't with any confidence stick to my original goal of finishing it by the end of 2026. I can't confidently say it'll get finished at all. It's because of this that I'm hitting the pause button on Paregui indefinitely, if/until I regain the desire to continue working on it. Because of this I've gone ahead and uploaded the song used in parts 1-4 to streaming services for your listening enjoyment. I was originally saving them for when all the soundtrack songs would be uploaded together, but since the future of its completion is uncertain I wanna let you guys have what's already out there.

FUTURE OF CHEESY HFJ

So if I'm not doing Paregui, what was supposed to be my "next big project", what am I doing instead? And what does that mean for the channel? Well for one, I've been making a lot of music. Like, a LOT of music. It's like all the creative energy that was lost from Paregui was just dumped into making music all the time. I feel like I’ve been improving a lot, and I would love to eventually put them out for you to hear.

Two, and more notably, is this:

Ever since this channel’s creation, the heart behind it was always to make whatever I want to, no strings attached. That’s how most channels start out. Now, hundreds of thousands of subscribers later, I’ve never felt more pressure to create and perform. I think that’s why a lot of big yt artists go into hiding after some time- it’s just too much pressure. In my current state of mind I can’t make new art with the expectation of it providing for me financially, nor the expectation of pleasing an audience. This is maybe evidenced by my more sporadic, music-heavy uploads recently (and that. Weird “we the best music” video).

As I transition into early adulthood, for the first time in a very long time I'm seeing my youtube channel fall from my list of priorities. I want to make sure I'm spending ample time developing and maintaining my relationships, exploring and learning more about myself, and focusing on various other endeavors that contribute to my personal growth and happiness outside of this channel. This might mean releasing things through a different and/or anonymous alias. This might even mean finding myself a job outside of the arts. Whatever it is, I want to do what I can to alleviate this creative pressure that has snuck up on me.

Hopefully you can understand where I’m coming from. The future of this channel is uncertain because I'm figuring out what I want my relationship with it to be moving forward. By saying this I hope that, if I decide to stop uploading at any time, it would not be a surprise or a concern. Realistically speaking I’ll probably drop some more music soon, but don’t expect me to. If I choose to upload consider it a bonus. Cheesy Hfj DLC. Maybe this channel will become a priority again in the future, maybe it won’t. The ongoing situation is fluid!
