John, Poet

We met on a Summer's day.
Dusk met darkness,
our lips met in silence,
then stars shined up above.

Last trumpet, last trumpet,
did you hear the horn?
Tell the Lord I'll have to wait,
I'm busy shucking corn.

Are the angels in the sky,
calling out to man?
Tell them I'm shucking corn,
I'm working as fast as I can.

I'm a poor old farmer in the field,
tell them to pass me by,
for the corn is ready, I will yield,
and there's angels in the sky.

How is it then, upon the bow,
my ship is taking on water?
So far below, ghosts of ancient mariners know,
that one more ship won't matter!
For on the bottom ghost ships lie,
don't let it be, upon this sea,
my ship is taking on water!

John, Poet

I know why the sun shines....
to light your golden hair,
to bring a gleam to your eyes
for the world to see.
In elegance you walk,
amid the day so fair.
Golden sunbeams light your path,
your beauty's known till twilight's past.
I know why the sun shines.

Let us walk to a hilltop that I know,
when the day is gone and the shadows grow.
We will watch the sunset together and kiss until the stars shine above.
Our love will grow upon this hill, when darkness falls and time stands still....

I will miss your smile but I have to sail away.
Blow a kiss across the water,
on this lonely day....
As the shoreline recedes I have memories of you, and I shall also blow a kiss across an ocean sad and blue.
