Yk one day (although I doubt this would ever happen) I hope we all stop calling the “Middle East” the Middle East and start calling it “West Asia” like it actually is.

For context the Middle East was a term created by the colonialists (British and French) to describe and isolate the region from the rest of Asia. The history behind it? It was called the Middle East because east Asia was “far east” from London. And the middle between London and East Asia was West Asia, so after craving up the worst borders ever they named it the Middle East. It is a colonial term and another reason for the name is that they were honestly kind of expecting conflict so they wanted to associate conflict with that specific region so now when you hear “Conflict in the Middle East” you aren’t surprised :(((

So yeah I would love if one day people start calling it West Asia (and North Africa for Egypt which is part of the Middle East but it’s North African) but chances of that is EXTREMELY low
