The 10th ECO Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Risk Reduction concluded in Islamabad with the adoption of the Islamabad Declaration on DRR, reaffirming ECO Member States’ collective commitment to regional cooperation, resilience, and coordinated disaster response.
Hosted by NDMA Pakistan on behalf of the Government of Pakistan, the two-day meeting (21–22 Jan 2026) brought together Ministers, Heads of Delegations, and senior officials from ECO Member States and international partners.
A key outcome was the endorsement of Pakistan’s offer to utilize NDMA’s National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) as an ECO regional hub for disaster risk reduction planning, joint training, simulations, early warning, and anticipatory action.
The Declaration emphasizes inclusive, people-centered approaches, regional preparedness, real-time data sharing, and strengthened cooperation to address climate-induced disaster risks across the ECO region.
