i finally found out why Park Hee-su hid her pregnancy from everyone.

As we all know, Hee-su was pregnant, which wasn’t a highly discussed case in the show. No one knew, not even her parents. She had to hide it due to how strict South Korea is. South Korea is the country with the lowest case of taboo (teen pregnancy and other things), which is why if a teen is pregnant, the father will most likely leave since he won’t be responsible for child support. If you are pregnant as a teen in Korea, your parents would most likely disown you due to being so “irresponsible” (Hee-su was most likely r*ped, but some people believe that it isn’t an excuse). She couldn’t get an abortion either, the shame would still be there. Sometimes in Korea, a lot of jobs won’t hire you if you’re a teen mom, since they believe that you’re irresponsible or reckless. That’s also why Hee-su tried to leave the baby, yet she knew how to give birth all alone (Which she did in a fucking public bathroom). So its a bigger issue in Korea, which is why Hee-su was ignored and later killed to not make taboo TOO much of a subject in AOUAD.
