As an experienced (and learning) backyard gardener, I've created this channel as a way to share what I've learned over the past 10 years. I grow mostly the typical fruits and vegetables like tomatoes, squash, peppers and melons. Being located in the southern California high desert, I face many challenges in having a home garden, but many of the tips I share can be applied wherever you are to help you with those same struggles in your garden.

You can expect videos on a variety of gardening topics, geared toward the beginner gardener. Drip irrigation, starting seeds, planting, composting, raised gardens, shade covers and wind breaks are just some of the topics I will cover. I try to keep my videos simple and straight-forward so that they will be helpful without over complicating things.

My goal is to help beginner gardeners be more successful when planting and growing a backyard garden.

It's been 13 Days since I found my broken tomato plant in the garden and began life support intervention. She now has a good root system going! I've replanted her in very fertile soil and remove all damaged stems, leaving healthy leaves and stems to grow. I've also water the soil until fully saturated to minimize the shock of going from water to soil. The soil will slowly dry over the next few days. I'll keep the plant indoors for at least another week before beginning to harden off and eventually replant in the garden. She isn't completely out of the danger zone just yet, but the outlook for this once all but lost tomato is looking outstanding! 😁👏🌱

It's been 8 days since I found my tomato plant broken in the garden. It's been slow, but roots are growing! The plant is obviously stressed, with curled and yellowing leaves. I've added some nutrients to the water to hopefully help some. I hope to be able to replant in soil within a week or so. It's rough, but hanging on! I'll keep y'all posted!

First tomato injury of the season. Went out this morning to find my Barry's Crazy Cherry tomato snapped off and lying on the ground.

Looks healthy, so trying the process to re-root and replant.

⚠️ Don't Start Planting Yet! 🚫🌱🥶
Unless you live in a very warm zone, it's probably still too early to start planting your spring seeds. Timing is very important when starting your seedlings ahead of the spring growing season. Watch to learn more about when to start your seeds:

This can be found hiding in the soil of your garden! youtube.com/shorts/yfjPFCUFhn...

This is not only evidence that you had hornworms in your garden during the previous season, but also means you will likely have them again the coming season. This pupa would eventually turn into a large moth and the eggs it lays will grow into tomato hornworms.
