Here’s the reality of what it takes to raise children with very strong reading comprehension: you have to be intentional.

And really, this list isn’t surprising - right? That children should read books. That they shouldn’t be consumed with nonsense media. That they should practice writing. That you should read with them (audiobooks count!).

The one thing that may be new is that your child isn’t necessarily learning all the standards for their grade in school - it’s your job to have a checklist and make sure they know what they’re supposed to know.

There's a lot of deflecting and jargon talk and you can see why nothing ever gets done even if there's competent people on the board.
