Reggae Legend Colvin 'Cocoa Tea' Scott has died....Aged 65. RIEP.

His wife, Malvia Scott, confirmed that the veteran singer passed away at 4:46 this morning (tuesday 1th March) at a hospital in Broward, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, following a cardiac arrest. He was 65.

"I got a call early this morning to say that he had been transferred from the facility to the hospital ... which is like five minutes away ... because he was vomiting. He was initially diagnosed with lymphoma in 2019, but for the last six months he was also struggling with pneumonia."

Following the diagnosis six years ago, the Nah Give Up singer kept a positive outlook, even to the very end.

"He was definitely very brave," shared Malvia, who is the mother of three of Cocoa Tea's children. "He was positive throughout it all. About three weeks ago when he was admitted in the hospital he asked if I was worried and I said 'I am always worried'. He told me not to worry because everything was going to be all right. He was always very hopeful."

RIEP KEN PARKER. ❤️

Sad news for reggae enthusiasts as it is reported that Jamaican singer Ken Parker passed away on Saturday, February 22, in Florida, after being hospitalized and put on life support. The reggae and gospel artist died just a day before his 77th birthday.
Parker was born in Darliston in Westmoreland Parish, Jamaica, where he started his musical journey by singing in church. He later formed the Blues Benders in the mid-1960s who made their debut recording with the song Honeymoon By The Sea. The group arranged an audition for Coxsone Dodd, but due to a mix-up, Parker was the only one to show up. He auditioned as a solo act, impressing Dodd enough to kickstart his solo career. At Studio One, he released various singles including Choking Kind, Run Come, and My Whole World Is Falling Down, along with an album in 1968 titled Keep Your Eyes On Jesus.

Following his time at Studio One, he collaborated with Duke Reid, who produced hits such as Jimmy Brown, Help Me Make It Through the Night, and Kiss an Angel Good Morning. His fame soared, leading him to work with other producers like Bunny Lee, Rupie Edwards, Byron Lee, Lloyd Charmers, and Joe Gibbs. Eventually, Parker grew disenchanted with the music industry and stopped recording, moving to England in 1973 after two years in New York City. Although he occasionally performed, he didn’t resume recording until the early 1980s, when he established his own record label and production company to release gospel music.

Our sincere condolences to his family and friends. ❤️

'Ram Goat Liver' singer Pluto Shervington has died'

He passed away minutes before 11 o'clock this morning in hospital in Florida. He was admitted on Thursday.
Shervington, who was born on August 13, 1950, began his career in the early 1970s as a member of the showband Tomorrow's Children. Inspired by the success of Ernie Smith's Duppy or a Gunman and Tinga Stewart's Play de Music, both delivered in heavy patois, he recorded in a similar style Ram Goat Liver, inspiring Lee 'Scratch' Perry to produce a popular version with Jimmy Riley.

The follow-up single, Dat – about a Rastafarian trying to buy pork (without naming it aloud), contrary to his faith, so that he can afford marijuana – achieved considerable chart success internationally in 1976, reaching the number six spot in the UK Singles Chart. Trojan Records capitalised on this success by reissuing his first single, which peaked just outside the top 40 in the UK.
Shervington also scored as a producer, overseeing the creation of the 1975 song Hooray Festival performed by Roman Stewart, and Midnight Rider by Paul Davidson, which peaked at number 10 in the UK Singles Chart in December 1975.
Shervington moved to Miami, Florida, in the early 1980s. He continued to record, and reached the UK top 20 again when Your Honour, originally recorded in 1975 but never previously released, was re-issued in early 1982 together with a new recording No Honour Among Tiefs. In 1997, as a guest of honour on Ernie Smith’s celebration of 30 years in the business, Shervington performed alongside Ken Lazarus and the surviving members of the Now Generation band at the Pegasus Hotel in Jamaica.

Again, in 2001, alongside Ernie Smith, Shervington performed together with the late musical veteran Lloyd Charmers at the Heineken Startime events for an Independence Showcase, which also included performances from The Abyssinians and Eric Donaldson.
In addition to his work as a singer, Shervington gained a reputation as a talented bass guitarist, and as a recording engineer, notably engineering Little Roy's 1974 album, Tafari Earth Uprising. As of 2018, Shervington was performing solo multiple times a week at the Bahama Breeze when not on tour.

Simpson died Friday morning after a long battle with diabetes.

‎ “I can't deal with this… it's tough. The second one of the Mighty Diamonds to pass away in four days.

Mighty Diamonds lead singer killed in drive-by shooting

'Tabby Diamond' was one of two shot dead in a drive-by gun attack on McKinley Crescent in Kingston. Shaw was the group's lead vocalist, with Fitzroy 'Bunny' Simpson and 'Lloyd' Judge Ferguson providing harmony vocals. The 'Diamond' was added to the names of the members of the group over the years.

The Mighty Diamonds is a Jamaican harmony trio with a strong Rastafarian influence. The group was formed in 1969 and remained together until 2012. They are best known for their debut album Right Time.
