Interestingly enough, I didn't realize that when I made this video that it was Ninja Jajamaru-kun's 40th anniversary. Happy anniversary, little ninja dude!
I'm mainly writing this to make a quick update. Sorry for the lack of uploads lately. They'll be back soon. I'm thinking of some new ideas to make things easier and faster. I'm also wanting to update the looks of my videos and character designs to make things more streamlined. I know it's weird for me to be talking about design updates this early, but I've intended for my ideas to make changes over time.
For the sake of consistency, the rest of the Evoland videos will have the same style, as will a few videos afterwards. The changes may take a while, after all. Thank you for your patience.
Happy Halloween! I managed to finish my Halloween video in time. Hope you all enjoy!
Anyway, aside from that, here's a goofy old monster commercial from my childhood. It's for a toy called "Big Frank". My cousin and I would burst out laughing at this commercial because the human actor for "Frank" looked hilarious!
Hey, everyone! New video upload today. I also want to mention that I decided to do a Halloween themed episode that will launch on Halloween. It's a one-off special that will feature a game other than Evoland. After that, I'll continue with Evoland.
I gave my two characters Halloween costumes. I like how they turned out; gave me a good laugh! You'll have to wait to see them though!
Coming Soon to Game Connect! The next two episodes are recorded, now it's time to begin the editing process. How much further is Evoland going to evolve, anyway?
More progress being made. I decided to lower the pixel count and do some redesigning. I also decided to use solid shading instead of dithering. I really like the dithering techniques used in PC-9800 games, so I wanted to give it a try, but I just don't have the skill for it. Not yet, at least.
Here's where I am: portraits are finished, sprite animations are finished, background animations are finished, and the interface is finished. I think I'll just make a few more simple graphics, then I'm ready to make videos.
Thank you for your patience. I'm really looking forward to getting this started.
Another update; sorry for the wall of text. I've got the first video recorded, but I decided to do things a bit differently for how I'm going to broadcast my content. Originally, to get things moving faster, I was actually going to speak in a few of my videos while I got a few things ready. Turns out, I don't like how my voice sounds after hearing myself. I guess it's not so unusual for people to feel this way about hearing their own voice, but I had some other issues with the overall quality anyway.
So ultimately, I'm going to take a little more time to finish up the graphics and put my video ideas into action sooner. I think that way, I'll be happier with how the videos will turn out. I really wasn't wanting to use my voice anyway for privacy purposes.
This is how my videos will work out: I have two characters that will be journeying through the games that I play. As I play, these characters will be making commentary and banter with dialogue text boxes (no voice over, just text). Think of it being like Mystery Science Theater 3000 if the characters spoke to each other in RPG dialogue boxes.
Here's an example of a portrait that will be placed next to the dialogue box. I like how this one turned out.

Just a brief update. Things are going smoothly. I'm working on the final step, which is writing the commentary.
I've got a good grasp on the layout of everything, so it should be smooth sailing from here on out.
