WHAT IS HE DOING?... Hey guys, I know we've been a bit quiet the last few weeks, but we have a video in the works that we're very excited about. At 83 years old, Master Wong is one of the last neon masters in Hong Kong; he's behind many of the signs that lit up HK in the 1970s, 80s and 90s. We got exclusive access to his workshop to see the master at work and learn about how he and his family are keeping the craft alive. Video coming soon, but in the meantime, we've dropped a BEHIND-THE-SCENES video on our Patreon – www.patreon.com/hongkonghoods – so check it out for free, and consider signing up to support us if you feel so inclined. Cheers!
Just a reminder we’ve set up our PATREON for those that wish to support the channel by signing up for a few bucks a month. 🙏 www.patreon.com/11839932/join
I’ve thought long and hard about this decision (I’ve always been against aggressively monetising anything to do with the channel in the spirit of covering HK culture honestly and organically) but speaking with a bigger YouTuber recently, they said something that struck a chord – the more support you get for what you do, the more you can do it.🇭🇰
So here we are. For those that don’t wish to become a Patreon, no problem, nothing will change for you and I appreciate your continued support through watching, liking and commenting – that in itself really means the world!!!🙏
For those of you that wish to sign up, the money will go towards the food we feature in episodes (supporting the businesses we patronise, as we pay our own way!), not to mention filming gear/maintenance, and subscriptions to the apps we use to create our videos – it all really does get a bit pricey!
We’re still working out what additional benefits to offer the Hong Kong legends that choose to become our Patreons, so to join the discussion, have a look at our Patreon page and join the conversation.
A huge thanks to all of you for your continued support whether through becoming a Patreon or just continuing to watch; we’re incredibly lucky to have such a great Hong Kong ‘Hoods community.❤️
Cheers, and see you next week for our latest episode!💪 💪 💪 🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰
Hey guys, NEW VIDEO out now, in which we explore one of the best newer cha chaan tengs flying the flag for old-school Hong Kong culture! Hope you enjoy!
We’re also excited to announce we’ve FINALLY launched our PATREON page, meaning our fantastic community members (you guys) can support the channel if you feel so inclined. Your support is fantastically appreciated, and will help us to continue to make our content going forward.
Hey guys, we’ve got some more incredible Hong Kong food coming at you this weekend, featuring a spot with a really ballsy history. Their story is very interesting, and the food is incredible. Hope you enjoy it - see you Sunday, 10am Hong Kong time 💪🙏🇭🇰
Hey guys, NEW VIDEO out this Sunday, 10am Hong Kong time! In this one we're headed to a legendary local cafe with nine decades of history behind it and an uncertain future. Join us as we eat old-school delicacies and explore another piece of Hong Kong's disappearing traditional food culture. See you Sunday!
Hey guys, NEW EPISODE OUT SUNDAY! Massively appreciate every single one of you and your continuing support. As some of you may know, our second 👶 came along some months back, and while raising 2 kids is a joy, it slowed things down video-wise in the second half of 2024. It’s now a new year and we can’t wait to continue bigger and better than ever. We’ve got some exciting projects in the pipeline for 2025, and are happy to start things off with by far the longest, funnest vid we’ve ever put out. It’s been a long time coming. Happy New Year 🧧🏮🐍 and see you Sunday!
Hi everyone, have we got something special in store! Tune in THIS SUNDAY 10AM HK TIME for our new episode, in which we explore quite possibly the most magical place in Hong Kong. The picture doesn’t reveal much, but can anyone guess where we are? 🇭🇰💪🚣♂️🤔
NEW EPISODE OUT THIS SUNDAY! Hey guys, have we got a treat for you this weekend- I visited one of the oldest Hong Kong dim sum restaurants that tourists just don’t know about. Join me as I eat my way through rare, old-school dim sum and talk about HK’s disappearing dim sum culture in an incredibly unique spot. Sunday, 10am HK time 💪🙏🥟
Got a shout-out from fellow Hong Kong YouTuber @coastyexplores in his new video the other day, which was very nice! Coasty's history-focused channel seems to be up and coming here, and he covers some really interesting subjects. Give the video a view here, or just check out his channel if you're into HK history: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNURg...
