Recognizing your own lack of spiritual understanding or insight is the crucial initial step to truly gaining deeper spiritual knowledge and awareness; essentially, admitting you don't see clearly is the first move towards being able to see more fully. Humility is the key to truly progress on a spiritual path. one must first acknowledge their limitations and be open to learning and growth. The spiritually blind hear the truth, but they cannot see what it means. They cannot see the “big picture” of salvation, and they are unable to see how it applies in their life. They have trouble confessing the truth because they have difficulty believing what they cannot see.
