Small Blessings from Kyoto
京都の小さな守り
JOFAE | Joy Of Fortune And Elegance
JOFAE was born in Kyoto.
Inspired by traditional textiles and the small blessings of everyday life, each piece carries a quiet wish — protection, luck, and beauty.
Surrounded by temples, gardens, and seasonal traditions, we have come to appreciate how small objects can carry meaning beyond decoration.
JOFAE Kyoto creates handmade textile charms and accessories inspired by the quiet beauty of Kyoto and its long tradition of craftsmanship. Using silk and woven fabrics, each piece is carefully made by hand in our small studio.
In many cultures, small charms are believed to carry wishes of luck, protection, and harmony. Our creations are designed to be little companions in everyday life — something you can carry with you as a reminder of warmth and good fortune.
Whether attached to a bag, worn in the hair, or given as a thoughtful gift, each piece carries a small blessing from Kyoto.

5 straight days at Kyoto markets changed how I see life in Japan
Day 5 of selling at Kyoto markets.
At 9:20 this morning, the vendors around me had already finished setting up.
The streets were almost empty.
After spending weeks doing this, I realized something most tourists never see:
behind Kyoto’s beauty, there are many ordinary people working incredibly hard just to get by.
Some vendors work from morning to night and earn nothing.
Some have lucky days and make good money.
Then the cycle repeats again tomorrow.
For them, this life is normal.
For me, it feels like I accidentally entered a completely different world.
In the past two months, I experienced hardships I never truly understood before.
But maybe that’s why these markets feel real.
Every seller here carries their own silent story.

A beautiful Kyoto day under the blue sky ☁️⛩️
Our little JOFAE booth standing beside Kyoto Tower felt like a scene from a movie today.
If you’re visiting Kyoto, come say hello at the Higashi Hongan-ji Market — Booth 23 ✨
Maybe you’ll find a handmade hairpin, a small charm,
or simply take home a little piece of Kyoto luck.
Every item is handmade with Japanese brocade fabrics and crafted one by one.

The moment that made it all worth it
すべてが報われた瞬間
Today I joined a handmade market in Kyoto.
Seeing customers stop, smile, and choose my handmade pieces
was the most rewarding feeling.
Moments like this remind me why I started.
Thank you for supporting handmade.
